I think Greene, Brodell, Christensen/Stanzi and Stross all have a legimate shot at the Heisman this year. What say you?

In the next couple of games, maybe three, Greene has a shot at getting 150 yards plus in each of them. I think he's one that could garner significant attention.
Of course, the Heisman is a political team, so Iowa has to pretty much go 6-0 before he's really considered. Could happen, I suppose. YOur thoughts?

If the Hawkeyes go nearly undefeated, then it will probably be Greene that gets the Heisman attention. But there's a long season ahead and if Stanzi or Jake starts to find a rhythm with Brodell, Stross, DJK, Moeaki, etc., either of them could be considered also.
Heck it's way too early, but nice to daydream.

Greene will vault into the picture when 7-0 Iowa beats 7-0 Wisconsin on ABC Saturday Night Football after going for 190 yards and 3 TDs, along with a run to match that sick one he had against ISU.

No shot for any of them. Greene would have to average over 200+ yards a game to get 2,000 for the season and it would take at least 2K for him to get serious attention let alone an invite to NY or wherever the presentation is.

Well I started out with "If the Hawks go nearly undefeated..." so yeah whatever follows that could be considered unrealistic. I don't think any of us were prediciting Banks to be runner up to the Heisman in 2002. Especially after his 3 fumbles that cost us the ISU game that year. Even late in the season he wasn't getting much Heisman publicity. He was a 1st year starter on a team that went 7-5 the year before. I don't think it gets much more unrealistic than that... but it happened. I believe this QB competition is a good thing and once things start clicking, who knows how strong one of these guys might emerge. They've got some talented guys to throw the ball to, as long as everyone stays healthy. Also have a talented running back to help open up the passing game. It's still early, and I'm not sold on them yet. Hell I've only watched 1 game this year. I had tickets to the first two which means I didn't actually watch them I was just in the stands drunk.

No chance for anyone on the team for Hesiman, but perhaps a 'backer can get the Butkus award, or one of our defensive lineman for the Bednarik award.

I bet that greene would at least get an invite to NY if he can get 1,600 yards. Maybe not serious consideration but I bet it would get him there. Of course Iowa would also have to win at least 9 games as the voters feel more or less that if you are going to be considered for the Heisman you need to carry your team to a very good record.

I'm still thinking that he would need 2,000. Sixteen hundred is not a special enough season at Iowa to get an invite. I hate to say it but Iowa isn't thought of that highly on a national level anymore. Until we get back to that level, it will take a superhuman effort for an Iowa player to be a serious contender for that award.

Green won't get a sniff unless he puts up a huge yardage/TD game. IF that were to happen we would be blowing someone out, which is unlikely. Also unlikely that he gets all of those yards/TDs b/c Kirk won't play him that long.

Greene doesn't get any love at all. It's all about overrated as hell Ringer, injured Beanie, or some other back that can't hold SG's jock. He didn't even get mentioned on sportscenter when the game was over during highlights or show his stats.

I think Greene is pretty close to or over 1,000 isn't he? If he keeps this up throught the remaining 6 games he will definitely end up in NY. Probably not the Heismann because our record won't reflect it but he will be there.
