Where has that Iowa team been? It was far from perfect but the 2nd half was the best half of football I have seen all year.

Aside from some miscues leading to 12 measly points, this Iowa team has been there all season. I knew they could win, and I'm thrilled that they did. We could have been the ones sitting at 10-0. No team has had an easy go against Iowa this year.

It was especially nice to see DJK have a good game given he has started to recieve a little big ok skepticism.
Some other notes about the game:
I think there may be increased chances of Greene coming back next year to improve his recieving abilities before selling himself to the big leagues. Also, he would be a very solid heisman candidate next year and without looking up statistics I'm pretty sure most heisman quality running backs do pretty well in the NFL.
Say all you want about Ken O'Keefe, but I think Norm gets less credit than he deserves as a solid defensive coordinator.
Stanzi showed moments of brilliance (especially the outs to DJK in the end of the game) and will be under a shitload of pressure to REALLY produce next year. It would be very nice to see him gel into a premier QB in college football, but we have to be more realistic.
It is a little strange watching the Steelers/Colts game and the Iowa game at the same time (laptop/TV). I catch myself thinking the Steelers are the Hawks and Indy's uniforms are pretty similar to PSU's with their away colors.
I will have to say that I am pretty confident this game will go down as one of my best experiences as a Hawkeye fan.

We changed up our routine, just for this game. We went to our big game routine and polished off a case of yellow bellies before the game. Union beer did cross my lips, though, because someone from the suites was tossing beers down, so I had to stomach a Bud Light. About Heisman winners, some are good, some blow. Rashaan Salaam won the Heisman. Norm called the absolute best game he has ever called. That was unreal. Guys were stunting. He blitzed. He got pressure all day. If he did shit like that against, oh I don't fucking know, Illigoddamnnois or fucking Western fucking Michigan or Northfuckingwestern, we'd probably have had a few better years in recent memory. One complaint I have is the fact that our god damn coaching staff still cannot figure out how the fuck to manage the clock. See the end of the first half. See also, the end of the game. Call the fucking timeout with 4 seconds, not fucking 6, retards. I'm also really god damn pissed off that we have this good of a team and a fucking 6-4 record. Talent-wise, we are as good as everybody in the Big Ten, but this fucking staff can't get us ready to play until fucking November. If Greene comes back and Ferentz has the god damn team ready to play next year, we will have our second best team under Ferentz behind the 2002 team.

That is what killed us in the first half though. It looked like PSU would run right up the gut because they knew there would be holes left when the MK's would twist/stunt. I didn't pay much attention to the d-line in the 2nd half so I don't know if they still were.

Norm has traditionally used stunts vs. blitzes......he also usually holds the blitzes in the bag until the second half....even then only 2-3 a game.....just GREAT timing.
I have to disagree with the clock management at the end of the game. I like that they called the TO at 6 rather than 4 secs. The field goal wasn't on 4th down, so if Romo fucks up the hold we can fall on it and take another shot.....just my $.02.

See, this is why Ferentz always gets a pass, most Iowa fans have the football IQ of gals. We had no timeouts left. If the snap is botched, we couldn't have stopped the clock. That was our only chance and absolutely should have been the last play of the game, barring a PSU timeout with 6 seconds to go. Zook did the same last week, calling a timeout immediately after the play (with 20 some seconds to go) instead of forcing Iowa to call a timeout or running the clock down. The fact that Ferentz can make a Zookesque move is ricockulous. If there's a penalty or anything on that kickoff, they come back in and kick a god damn field goal and win.

In my stupor I missed Iowa's first TO....thought they still had 1 in the bank. I guess I was just stunned to have 3 left in the 4th quarter to begin with....Old Keefer shocked me there....what with rolling Stanzi out and having his WR's running outs to conserve clock, I was all kinds of messed up.......javascript:add("%20???")
