Pretty bizzare, but that's why wild animals should be left in the wild. Not living in Stamford, CT.

"He bit both of her hands off and the cop told me he just kept eating her. It's terrible," Lynne Mecca, a friend of the victim, told CBS News.

"He bit both of her hands off and the cop told me he just kept eating her. It's terrible," Lynne Mecca, a friend of the victim, told CBS News. DAMN!!!!!!! I was thinking the exact same thing, that's definately the most fucked up part of the story. Not only did he bite them but he "bit them off". Holy shit! This kind of reminds me of another story I heard about a year or two ago where this couple helped raise an orphaned chimp. They went to visit the chimp a year or two later and when the chimp saw them he reacted positvely. The couple went in to give the chimp hugs and whatnot then the chimp proceeded to tear off the guys genitals and claw his eyes out. Like Ron said, they are wild animals. It's not like a cat that you can boot if it gets out of hand.

Sounds like the chimp was pretty hungry.
Or...let's use Occam's Razor:
Conklin said the chimp has been sick with Lyme disease, so the drugs might have made him anxious.
"Maybe from the medications he was out of sorts," he said. "We really don't know."
Well, I pretty much know. The animal was sick and fucked up.

No, he just found out that he was denied health insurance because of his pre existing condition of Life Disease and we don't have a national health plan so he didn't know what he was going to do and flipped out.

The chimp went all primal & went to war. If you've ever read stories about wild chimp "tribes" periodically raiding nearby tribes --- which includes everything from killing them all to eating them... this story is a bit of meh... It's like asking a conservative to not be paranoid... or not to whine about more tax cuts equally during times of prosperity or during a recession/depression.

Drugs, abortion, assisted suicide, whatever. One of the few times I disagree with the right. If you want to toke up, go ahead. Just don't have your hand out to the government wanting something because you've spent all your loot on greens.

How in the world did this thread turn into a politics pissing match? Can't we get back to talking about how stupid the lady was for keeping a 200-lb chimp as a pet?

Here is an audio of the 911 call from the lady whose pet chimp ate the hands and face of her friends. Trav, I hope you wouldn't be as dumb as this asshole on the line if some woman from Ankeny called in while her friend was getting mauled to death by a wild animal. Pretty interesting stuff.

In all honesty, if that shit happened here, I can say with reasonable certainty that it would take me a minute to figure out WTF was actually happening. I have taken calls with dogs attacking people, but to hear someone say a fucking Chimp was attacking their friend would catch me off guard.
That guy could have done a little better at gathering some info though, assuming that is the entire call.

You mean to tell me that the book/computer listing "things to do when..." - doesn't list out every conceivable pet? I'm sure there are listings for things "accidentally" fallen on and now stuck in anus: -Banana -Tire Iron -CB Radio -Pez dispenser -Bottle -Lightbulb ......but if someone calls in saying they fell on the business end of a toilet plunger, you might not have an answer? ---- or do you find the closest fit?

I wonder how long this family falls victim to the "ownership of unpredictable wild animals" curse?

Roll with the punches Socal, roll with the punches. Ask questions such as: Was the banana peeled or not? What was the Character head of the Pez dispenser? If you can somehow manipulate the CB radio channel dial and turn it to Channel 9, then squeeze the mic button with your buttcheeks, you should be able to raise someone and ask for help.
As for the plunger, they are shit out of luck.
I really wish there was a book on anything, but there isn't. Sometimes that makes this job fun though!
