www.gazetteonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080223/NEWS/310795518/1008/sportsI'm sure everyone has heard about Cleveland and Nelson both getting popped on dope charges last night. What are everyone's thoughts? I think the football really needs a greasy lawyer, like myself, in charge of compliance. I would give the kids lectures on the various and sundry amendments to the Constitution that would give them rights to decline searches, which they both apparently consented to yesterday in getting popped. I would also tell them that any time they are approached by cops, they are to call me, the head of compliance, so I can speed to the scene and make sure their Constitutional rights don't get stomped on and see if there is any way to smooth things over with the cops.

Well, I'd say it's a battle between Jake and Mr. McNutt for the starting job this fall. Nelson and Cleveland will be ending their tenure's at UI very shortly I have a feeling.

And the hits just keep on coming! Well, Nelson can walk as we have plenty to replace him with on the depth chart. As for Cleveland, he drops more than he catches - maybe he was high.
This football team has turned into a disciplinary train wreck.

I was somewhat relieved opening up the paper this morning - about how the 5th yr. Sr point guard for Bradley / team captain --- is in jail for choking a girl.
I'm glad it's not just the Hawks.....

Jon Millers boy, Ruffin, choked a girl?....I sure hope Jon bans that animal, or at least publicly admonishes him like he did to our bretheran on the OT board.

Draker: Not a big Bradley fan? I think that you have to hire your own personal security, or body guard to go to school in that part of Peoria.

These guys still have time to transfer to Illinois to play basketball for our mid-major coach. Heck, if Bob Bowlsby was the Illinois AD, he'd give Weber a lifetime contract.

Towely would reinstate Nelson and Cleveland.
Shouldn't they just argue "de minimis" exception. Legalize it.

Good grief, what does it take to get it through the heads of the players on the team? The real question is startingbe held accountable when will Kirk Ferentz be held accountable for the actions of the team? This is starting to be a leadership issue and not a stupid college kid issue.

I was thinking about this and i thought back to High School. Where was our High School coach when kids were drinking every weekend? I've never heard of a high school coach blamed for kids getting a possession, so how do you you blame a college coach for kids that are (on average) 4 years older?
