Okay, been meaning to post this for some time now.
I joined Facebook about a year ago after thinking about it for some time.
Now, I'm thinking maybe that wasn't so cool. I am always getting people sending me invites, requests, etc, etc that it has become a pain in the ass.
Maybe it's a generational thing, but I just really don't see the big deal about Facebook. I kinda think now that, if I wanted some of the people to be that connected to me, I would just call or email them.
What does everyone else think? Am I just an asshole or is Facebook one of the most over-rated things ever invented?

I think I am possibly the only person alive between the ages of 15 and 40 that is not on the Facebook. If someone desperately needs to find me, they would know who my friends are and would contact them via FB and those friends would in turn contact me.

I'm on it...and I find that if you block the applications and bs groups, and people that keep bugging you, you can really cut down on the bullshit you don't want. Now that I have all that weeded out, it is quite enjoyable.

I'm on it also and I find it to be extremely annoying most of the time. I have weeded out several " friends " that really wanted nothing more than to snoop around and not really communicate with me, that made a difference in my appreciation for FB, I have gotten to the point where I find FB to be nothing that great, it's awesome for families to keep in touch as well as really good friends. Other than that it's an attention whore convention, I freaking hate the " Went to the store and bought a Pepsi " status updates, WHO GIVES A FUCK! I rarely update my status and when I do it's up for maybe an hour and then deleted.

My wife talked me into it sometime in September. I started playing fucking Mafia Wars and became an addict. Now that I've completed the thing, I don't visit it much at all.
That said, I have gotten in touch with some friends from LONG ago. A few brief conversations and we haven't chatted since.

Although I think I am going to bite the bullet at some point here and get an account, more for business reasons then anything else it will be a good way to get back in contact with people that I haven't talked to in quite awhile and in turn gives me the opportunity to increase my client base without having to call people out of the blue.

I don't mind it, I check it sometimes when I'm bored and it's kind of interesting to see what people you haven't kept in touch with are doing now. I think the novelty of the whole thing will die off for most people and it will probably die off within the next few years.
I have noticed there are about 10 or 15 of the 280 people on my friends list that post stuff, I think most people sign up and don't really pay any attention to it.

That pretty much sums up my experience. I signed up for it, but rarely post or even look at it It's a good way to talk to people who aren't good enough friends to call or email, but still good enough to maintain some form of contact every now and then. And if you were a single dude, I imagine it would be a decent way to line up some pussy. But I can do without FB, it's nothing special.

I only use it to keep up with business associates, law school classmates, or family. I never respond to any of that invite or game shit. If that offends the senders, fuck 'em.

I use it.
I don't use it as much as I used to (people that post hourly need to get off the computer).
I find it easy to weed through the bullshit and check it about once a day.

I use it, though I use Twitter more. I like Twitter simply because it's more of a news and information sharing source than a "Hey, I just bought a Pepsi because I'm thirsty!" kind of thing.
That totally depends on who you follow though. I follow people I've never met on Twitter, while I am only friends with people I know on facebook.

The constant updating of what the fucking kids are doing or have done all day is annoying!!! "Oh little Billy is so cute, he just said 'mommy, i picked my nose and wiped it on the floor' God life is great!!" I get it, you have kids, life is great and you are overly happy with your life. Please spare me with your childs play-by-play on facebook. Thanks.

A friend of mine made me a facebook and wont tell me the password or email. Don't really care though. I had a myspace and that was lame as fuck and I assume facebook is basically the same. I have a twitter. Most of my brothers and sisters have facebook.

I got an account however I check it maybe once a week. Neat tool to find people you haven't seen in a long time, but the novelty has worn off quite a bit. I like seeing my friends and families photos. I especially liked that out to sea when isolated. Allowed me to keep up more with what was going on at home, but at the amount I wanted. The games and apps are mostly annoying and ignored. Overall, not that bad to me. Being military might be a little different though.

Some people definitely have facebook problems and don't understand that it is supposed to be a tool. I use it occasionally to contact friends, or look for old friends that I haven't seen for a long time.

I made the mistake of accepting a friend invite from some kid in our TKD school. This kid is around 14 and holy hell, I get fucking bombarded with shit.
I like the kid and all, but take a hint.... when I still haven't replied to over a dozen invites to groups, games, ad nauseum.... I probably don't give a fuck and never WILL reply.
