Any thoughts? I've started watching more of the games recently. They suck for sure and I'm bored by the half-court offense......but I must say they play up to their competition. Whether it be against MSU or Texas.....the players at least seem to care. I still can't tell if the coach does.

I've heard rumors that we are fielding a team but I've seen no actual footage to support that claim.

I actually enjoyed watching the MSU game this week, although frustrating at times I still appreciated the effort put forth.

Some of the lucky folks of this board actually got to see a Hawkeye WIN! I'm jealous. It was rather cool in fact to see Iowa win versus PSU in person....but alas...nothing was easy and Iowa let em back in to it becuz TL wouldn't go to a box-in-one at the end to contain Battle who simply drove to the basket at will. Oh well, a win's a win this year!

How the fuck did they beat Indiana by 15?
Oh, and by the way, for you townies...Drake looks really good right now too.

They played really well last night and Indiana isn't very good. Fuller is the real deal.....at least I hope. He reminds me of James Winters.....plays much bigger than his actual size.

The Michigan game put Hawkeye Basketball back in perspective. They suck simple as that.

This is not a good basketball team, no one would argue that. Here's what I will argue; we're seeing signs of progress this year.
We've had horrific losses (UTSA, Duquesne, Michigan...many others), but we've also played really well against some of the best teams in the country. Specifically Michigan State and Texas. Now, we melted down in both 2nd halves. BUT, we've seen that this team CAN play with the top talent in the country.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's reason for hope. This isn't the black hole we all thought it was at the beginning of the year. It's doubtful Iowa gets in to the Tournament next year...even if they expand it to 96 teams...but I think, looking back in a few years, this year will be looked at as rock bottom.
Because this isn't a very good team right now, you'll have games like the Michigan game. But that same team damn near pulled it out against Ohio State just a few nights prior. Progress is being made. I think it is reasonable to expect Iowa to finish at the middle of the Big 10 in the 2010-2011 season, maybe compete for a NCAA bid, with a lock on an NIT bid and in the 2011-2012 season be a lock for the Big Dance.
Keep the faith kids...the basketball team is quickly becoming watchable again.

I hope you're right, brotha.
Cuz this shit is tough to watch, not only because of the losing, but because of the boring style of play.
One could argue that Iowa football plays a boring type of football...thing is...they win = not boring.
We have a bad combo going on right now for Iowa BB.

The style of play is hurting attendance more than the W/L record. If Lickliter turns the team around, I still don't know if I would pay $20 to watch a 50 point game

Even when Iowa football is "boring," you still have Clayborn and company physically abusing people. And that is never boring.

I was at the MSU game a couple of years ago we won 45-41 or whatever it was and Lick out coached Izzo in that game sure it wasn't pretty but I didn't leave CHA enjoying the win any less because we didn't score 80. If and when this teams starts winning or a regular basis the fans will be back regardless of how many points they score. Like others have said the signs are there but we will also see a gave or two like Mich where they look like shit. The 4 guys coming in next year should help out alot.

Bo Ryan sold plenty of tickets with that Final Four team a few years ago that was boring. We have to face reality - Iowa is a declining population state and our ability to land guys like Roy Marble Sr., Eddie Horton and BJ Armstrong is pretty limited and unfortunately, a system like Lick's (assuming we get slightly better players, which we can, and that as guys get older they improve and cut down TOs and stupid mistakes) is probably our only hope of ever returning to glory short of hiring some really really really greasy guy like Tim Floyd who can recruit NBA caliber players to Iowa.

To play that style of ball you have to be proficient at hitting 3s and you cannot turn over the ball. Never has that been more clear than with this team.

A poor performance against a below average Illinois team.
They made a late run, but that was a just a dick tease
