Found out today that USF will not be admitting me to their school, barring an overriding decision by the director of admissions. Seems that sense my GPA for my transfer credits from ISU is less than a 3.0, thus failing to meet the criteria for being a transfer student. I finished going to ISU back in 1987. There are murderers that went to prison, served their time and been released in shorter amounts of time. More frustrating is the fact that if I had not tried to transfer any credits I would have been admitted. Talk about pissed off. Unbelievable that common sense in admissions standards can't be applied. Given Uncle Sam is footing the bill, thereby guarenteeing USF gets paid for my attendance I got to wonder about their business sense. So, USF, I got two words for you! Can you guess what they are?
Oh yeah, PHCC has accepted me already. They get the government dollars for education, not USF. Commute will now be less than a mile and a half. Too bad they are only offering 2 year degrees.

Ugh. That scares the shit out of me. I'm going to be applying to get into a PT Doctorate program in December. My GPA at UNI was 2.94 or something like that. I have a business degree though. Hopefully they will take into consideration that I graduated 6 years prior and didn't give a damn back then. My GRE score will hopefully be fairly high (it should be since I'm a fucking super genius). Also my current grades in all of the science prerequisites should be a 4.0 since I am now older and am actually attending all classes and I have studied a little this time. But I'm still scared shitless. I really want to get into Iowa so I can still live in the house we bought less than a year ago, but if I have to go to Des Moines University I'll probably have to rent a room from one of you Des Moines guys. And if I have to go to St. Ambrose I'll probably have to get a shitty apartment and live in D'port during the week and leave the chick I shack up with home alone until the weekends and she'll be super happy about that.

Ummm, I know I knock ISMoo's academics, but it is a materially better school than USF and those fucksticks should let you in because a 2.5 at ISMoo is probably about a fucking 3.8 at USF, especially a 2.5 from the 80's before the massive grade inflation wave. You can just go to CC for a semester or a year and then transfer into USF, though. Actually, no fuck that, transfer to Florida or FSU and get a better degree through distance learning and satellite campuses. Fuck USF.

I'm certain that I was being educated somewhere in 1987. I'm also certain that I cannot remember a fucking thing about any of it. Hell, that goes for 1997 too. So whether I pulled a 4.0 or 1.5 is immaterial. Because I don't remember the bullshit, and I don't care.
So they are gonna refuse to admit you for a sub 3.0 in 198fucking7 in coursework from a superior institution that in any event no one in their right mind would be able to remember anyway...and with an ENTIRE NAVAL CAREER in the meantime.
Yeah, I've got two words for 'em as well: Fucking Unpatriotic Cocksuckers. OK, I pulled a Roth there, that's three words. But I digress. They oughta be asking someone with your life experience to join them, not the other way around.

The more I think about, the more I think during the next Iowa bowl game in Florida, the entire wasteland should roll onto the campus and strategically shit in their urinals.

I plan on shitting in their fountain late one night. Actually, dump a can of used motor oil into the fountain and fuck up the motor beyond all repair. Oh, the hell I can wreak on piping systems...... Don't want to use my naval career as a crutch. Still, kind of amazed though that operating, performing maintenance and training others to run nuclear reactors for 20 years is not qualifying me to get in. Got to wonder what the athletes have to offer in a comperable situation. Ah well, life goes on. My money and business will go elsewhere. It's the piece of paper that matters, not necessarily the issuer. So USF - BLOW ME!

I really didn't try to transfer my Iowa grades... as I knew the were shit. This time though, I've still got my 4.0 after 36 credits. Now I just need to figure out wtf I truly want a degree in, and if I'll still be able to continue with school before every last penny of savings is gone.

What melts your butter? You can parlay just about any focused interest into a career. Really. Pick up an Outside magazine sometime if you don't believe me. Alternatively it's almost impossible to succeed at something you don't enjoy. Plus, it will kill you prematurely.

Here is an update. USF has decided to grant me admission. After three emails to the Director of Admissions explaining why I felt I was worthy, and dropping the Navy card, yours truly has been deemed worthy of admission into USF. So, we are back to the original plan. Oh yeah, I take the ACT on Friday as well. Get one free take through the Navy and am doing it before I get out. Figure it can't hurt and might actually help should I decide to go to Grad school at some point. That is all, carry on.

Congrats, MC. I don't think the ACT mattered at all going to grad school, it is the specialized tests that matter at that point (LSAT, MCAT, GMAT, etc.). Glad you got into the school you wanted and the admissions department figured out right and wrong.

Just an update for all you hard working, ass busting types. Signed up for classes. Done by 1215 everyday. Monday and Weds have 1 class each, done by 0915. Ahhh, college is going to be good. Classes: cultural study on aging, environmental science, Intro to anthropology, medival history and an online folk music/ cultural study class. Can you tell I am killing electives? 15 hours of just shoot me in the head courses. However, Monday and Weds will be golf days. Now, get your overworked, stress filled asses back to work so you can keep paying my tuition via taxes.

I'm enrolled for 12 hours, but it is really 15 hours of class time. 3 classes each having 3 hours of lecture a week plus 2 hours of lab. School is harder this time around when there are no electives to take the pressure off. All I have to take are "weed out" classes. To top it off, I'm getting a B+ right now in my stats class and it is pissing me off. This class is super easy for me and I think that is the problem. I'm getting points taken off of exams for not writing down steps that are pointless because previous steps make them unnecessary. I questioned her after the last test. I said, "see here, I did this, so I shouldn't have to do this". She said, "right, but I didn't know that is what you were thinking". Should I have said, yeah, but I'm not a retard like the other people in the class. I am still pissed about that test 4 days later.

School blows my nuts. I wish I would have just been a “normie” and did college the normal fucking way. But I guess that just isn’t my style. So, now I’ve got to throw 8 hours of actual classroom time (per week) on top of 40 hours of work. Then I have to consider sleep, homework, and helping out with my 4 and ½ month old son. It is crazy, crazy, dare I say bat-shit crazy, how different my life is from 5 years ago. Talk about going from one extreme to the other. Oh well, not really trying to bitch. More just venting. Carry on.

Still like the idea of home by 1 pm everyday and a lot of golf. As for Socal, I am right there with you. Grandparents drop off the kids everyday. I get to pick them up. But, other than that they are pretty self sufficient, so I will have plenty of time for studying with an open beer in one hand. Also like that I get into all the USF games for free. I'll be the old guy sitting in the student section checking out the girls during the breaks.

How far outside? If you consider Iowa outside I might be down, as long as I don't have to be a frat boy douche. I'm not paying to be your friend either. We are already footing your bill right?

I'm thinking about a miles from campus. You don't need to pay to be my friend, just for rent and beer. Food too. Besides, those starting the fraternity don't need to pay, just those that come after the initial group when we are the happening thing. Those guys pay up the nose. Then, when we have broken a lot of laws and are about to get into serious trouble, we sell/ give them the frat. They take the fall and we walk with the money. This plan is coming together. We already got a kick ass group of lawyers and a retired pharmacist. Sounds like full proof entertainment to me.

Seriously, enjoy.

Cultural study on aging? Is that considered a self-study course? Seriously, enjoy. I think it is about ex marines that take to motorcycle riding as a mid life crisis, but I could be wrong. And thanks, I plan on kicking back for a while. I am thinking of taking on a coaching job in the school district as a time filler. Doesn't pay alot, but gets me out of the house and back into swimming.
