Otherwise known as the Insight Bowl.
What a turd. I've been ranting on the HN. Guess I can really let loose here.
How many ways can this bowl suck?......here we go....
If we win, so what...it's Missouri.
If we lose, God help us...it's Missouri.
Nebraska gets hosed by Big-XII, so we get Missouri.
Missouri runs what kind of offense? You're right....a spread.
It's on Dec 28th, a Tuesday, a work night, right after Xmas. You'll have to blow three days of vacation to go to it.
It starts at 10PM EST...shutting out probably the eastern 2/3 of the nation....again, no recruiting help, no audience.
Xmas travelers already scooped up the cheap holiday flights to PHX.
RRod got a better bowl game than KF.
Return to the scene of the 44-7 massacre.
Insight bowl basically is picking the SIXTH place Big-10 team this year....whoopee.
Finally, it's the same bowl Iowa State and Minnesota played in last year.
I couldn't find a bigger turd at the local sewer if I tried.

Northwestern's current streak of January bowl games: 2 Iowa's: 0
This is a fucking god damned joke. Oh, but if we get Tyler Nielsen healthy it will make all the difference in the world. Add Gabbert to the fucking list of QBs who looks like an all pro against us, Persa, that fuckstick from MN, Chappel and now fucking god damned Gabbert. I ain't even watching the fucking thing I'm so fucking pissed. When I called 8-4, I thought fucking Outback or Gator at worst, not some fucking shit show on a god damned Tuesday fucking night in the middle of the god damned played in front of a high school sized crowd.

If we manage to lose this, ISUx will all over us for losing a bowl game they actually won.
Oh well, at least we'll get to "practice" against yet another spread team.
Spread = we spread em, and they stick it to us.

Just received this in my home email....
"The Iowa Hawkeyes are Insight Bowl bound and the Iowa Hawk Shop is your official source forInsight Bowl Gear! Order your bowl merchandise at hawkshop.com while supplies last. Insight Bowl merchandise is also expected to arrive at the Iowa Hawk Shop Hwy 6 store in Coralville early this week. Go Hawks!"
I envision an Insight T-shirt with a big ol turd on the front. That would be appropriate.

I wonder if the turd on the front of the t-shirt is scratch & sniff? . If KF finds a way to lose to Mizzou after 3 weeks of prep, I will be homicidal.

With a 10:00 weeknight start here, I wonder how long I will be able to stay awake. I fully expect Mizzou to light up that defense.
P.S. Add Forcier to the list of QB's that looked All-Pro against the Hawks. He just ran out of time.

I actually think we have nothing to lose, we are fucking 7-5, Mizzou is 10-2 and ranked 14th. Plus as mentioned nobody is going to be watching the fucker other then fans of the teams and hardcore football fans.
How many people do you think are actually going to sign up to go on Jan's Bowl Trip? 17? I bet they will be fly out of the IC airport there will be so few people interested in that POS trip.
Although I will say it should be a home game for Iowa, there will be plenty of Iowa snowbirds down there and Mizzou travels for shit.
Finally at least the game is on ESPN and not the NFL Network like it has been in the past.

Iowa does have something to lose.....they could get embarrassed by the spread offense 1 more time in the 2010 season. I do expect our Offense to score at least 28 points......but I'm expecting our D to give up just as many. Gabbard is a Terrell Pryor-type....throws well, runs well. Mizzou always has 5-wide sets plus their RB is better than Trumpy at NW.
Mizzou would have to shoot themselves in the foot multiple times for the Hawks to win this game.

Mizzou would have to shoot themselves in the foot multiple times for the Hawks to win this game. I disagree. If the Iowa team that played vs. Ohio State, MSU, and Wisc shows up we will be just fine and it should be a good game. Don't forget that people said the same thing before we shut down Texas Tech's spread O in the Alamo Bowl. I don't see Mizzou's O being any more potent then Ohio State's and there D isn't as good. I will give you if the team mails it in again we are looking at the 97 sun bowl all over again or worse yet the 93 Alamo Bowl.

I see Mizzou's Offense being more potent than OSU (against an Iowa D) only for the reason that they have no problem throwing the ball 50+ times. Tressel does stay committed to run somewhat. Our defense will give up at least 35 points against Mizzou unless Gabbard throws some picks or the WRs fumble a few trying to make YAC. I hate to say it, but the first half of the MSU game was an anamoly this year. When can I not be an "Asshole"....... I'm hoping to get switched to "Blumpkin Lover"

I realize my personal feelings for the game are a bit different since I actually live in Missouri and have already been getting a heap of bullshit from Mizzou fans. They're convinced that Mizzou will roll because, well, "Iowa lost their last 3 games! And one was to Minnesota!"
The problem this team had was that after the OSU game, when they had absolutely nothing left to play for, they quit. Period.
If, and this is a big if, the Hawks show up pumped up and ready to play, I don't think Missouri has much of a chance. Gabbert is not as good as his stats make him out to be. They have a solid running game and one dangerous receiver. Is their defense stout? Numbers say it is...but I don't think they pass the eye test personally.
We'll see what happens, but if Iowa loses, my life will be absolutely awful until these guys play again.

He might only need a mini van as I thik it was around $1800 a person for 2 fucking nights. Sorry Jon, but I can get the wife and I to Tempe and back and go to the game for probably $1000 less than that. Sure I don't get their fucking key chain souvenir or whatever they give away and don't get to go to their tailgate, but it isn't that hard to set up my own tailgate.

But you won't get to sit on Jan's lap and enjoy all the wonderful stories from his West Branch days! I actually think he probably wished that he didn't have to do a trip this year but if a travel agency says we will split the commission and take you and a guest for free it's kind of a no brainer. At least I would hope that is the kind of deal he has to be pimping the thing.

You can stay at the same hotel they are as rooms were still available as of today for $459 including taxes, not bad as it looks like a nice place, then order game tickets which I checked out and sit a level down from HN for $134 for a pair where as HN wants $130 for a pair. But flying out of Omaha you can save a ton, I found flights for under $1000 round trip for 2 people. Sure you get in about 8 pm on Monday night and have to miss the Hawk huddle but there is usually so many fucking people at these it wouldn't bother me to miss it. So all told you can do this same package (including same hotel) minus the bullshit stuff for $1537 out of Omaha, $1734 out of Kansas City, $2035 out of DSM or $3158 from HN. Granted it is a charter flight, but I think I could change fucking planes to save anywhere from $1000 to $1500.

That HN package is definitely ass-rape. Even from way out here in Charlotte, I can fly non-stop to Phoenix for $492 all in. Game tix as quoted. Here's my kicker: I can stay free, in my choice of either a Crowne Plaza/Indigo (IHG hotels) or Marriott property. I have beau coup points with both groups. Millerfest could only appeal to a stupid, lazy prole (redundant, I know) who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, and who hasn't already maxed out his MasterCard's player-level credit limit of $5,000 on useless christmas shit that will be broken or lost within 3 weeks.

Shit man, for $3158, you should be getting frickin club seats, free liquor and a BJ thrown in. And he'll pressure you into buying the crappy-ass University tickets (where they stick you in the worst seats possible), or else, thanks to the ass-raping BCS, Iowa eats the price of each and every ticket not sold.

12. Insight Bowl, Iowa (7-5) vs. Missouri (10-2), Dec. 28: This rates a position this high only if Iowa decides to play. The Hawkeyes fell apart down the stretch, and may have packed it in. If they haven't, this will be a good one.
Ranked 12 of 35 bowl games. I'm still disappointed but if we can put up a solid beating this game it will solidify "what could have been". Fucking Hawkeyes anyway.

That is what is funny as hell about the thread over there with his package costing so fucking much. People saying if you want the convience of not planning anything pony up the cash. I mean fuck it takes all of 10 minutes to book a fucking hotel and flight online. I know you don't get the tailgate food and beverage and all the other bullshit, but there is no fucking way you are going to tell that is worth the extra $, I'm sure his charters are fun and all, but I also guess I'm not that fucking lazy and I'm cheap and will do it myself and spend the extra I save on getting wasted in Tempe and pissing Missouri fans off. The only God damn reason I'm even going is this: Des Moines 22 degrees Tempe 78 degrees I hate the fucking cold and just getting away for a couple of days is better then nothing and I might catch a football game while there.

Why anyone would want to tailgate for this game is beyond me. I used to live near Tempe. You definitely want to go to Mill Ave before and after the game. There used to be a bar there called "The Library." If any of you fuckers go to the bowl, you will not be disapointed in the place.....assuming it's still open.
