I'll be back in Iowa for the holidays this year. Was thinking of going to the iowa Indiana game on NYE. Anyone else going to this game? And any info on tickets would be appreciated. Stub hub has them for 80 bucks.Would think they'd be cheaper than that. Try to get them off the University website. I bought some for 22 a piece off there.

If you want to see some decent basketball, check out the team from Omaha. I think they'd prolly kick the living shit out of us this season too.

Big game tonight for a young team. If they can travel and win on an ACC floor, it would be huge. I know its only Va Tech, but considering we don't have a win in the ACC/B10 challenge since Stevie Baby led us to victory in 2005 against NC State........any win in this would be big.

I have a bad feeling about tonight and am still holding on to the reality we will probably be a bubble team at best. I like the team and the coach and see the long term potential but I am apprehensive about getting too excited about the team. A win tonight would be huge.
That being said, I don't think there was too much shame in losing to Wayne State and WKU was not a pushover either.

Their leading scorer is a PG that is averaging over 20 a game. The way we played D vs. Wichita St. reminded me of last year. Part of the game we really need to continue to work on. Either way it will be good for a young team to play a quality team on the road before several cupcakes at home. I also hope that we can shoot better than 25%.

Once again, Iowa basketball not on tv.
Iowa football is on the four lettered blowtorch seemingly each and every week. WTF?
And yes, I know the bball game is on ESPN U. Like I said... not televised.

Whoops, they both start with a W so fuck off. I watched Witchita State play DePaul and they looked pretty good. I missed the Iowa - Witchita State game though so can't really say much about it. There has been some horrible issues with consistency so far this year, that's what concerns me the most, just sayin'.

This team is going to really struggle this year

This team is going to really struggle this year I disagree. I'm not one to make excuses, but this team is young and young teams fuck up. Losing at Va Tech is still not as bad as losing at home to fucking Campbell. There is no such thing as a good loss, but this one doesn't really set the program back. The big test will be the B1G season. The B1G is loaded this year, but there is no reason Iowa can't be a top half team. That gets Iowa to the big dance in March. Give them some time. It's still early in the season. A lot of Sweet 16 teams will have shitty losses on their resume. I am not at all saying Iowa is a Sweet 16 team, but if they have to have a shitty loss, better to get it out of the way early.

I'm not burying them because of this loss - they are young and will continue to improve. BUT, are you watching these other Big Ten games? Holy shit Batman there are some good teams and so far it appears we are going to really struggle against athletic teams. If I had to guess we will lose to ISU and UNI giving us 4 non conf losses and a 9-4 record with zero even halfway decent wins. I can find maybe 9 conference wins if I'm being generous and more likely 7-8. Hopefully that is enough for another NIT bid

Indiana is going to crush us. I have not watched any of the other BoneG teams play yet, but it looks like several have hung some pretty good scores on their ACC counterparts. Hell, even knobraska stomped Wake Forest. Hokks are in for a long, brutal conference schedule. FML.

But with the shit brick the football team laid, can't blame ya. Yeah, the B1G is gonna be stellar, but I also think that gets 7 teams in the NCAAs this season too. A rising tide lifts all boats and shit my Dad would say... Have faith. KF and GD are NOT coaching this team.

I think you are right, they will kill us. but it will be fun to go and watch anyways. Iowa basketball at least looks like it gives a fuck, unlike the football prgram right now.

I miss the days, going with Ron to a mid-week game, mid winter, when maybe 2500 would show up (10K announced)(no students), free soda with $1 hot dogs, when we'd settle in for a 56-49 loss to (fill in the blank), while lil lick got 25+ minutes.
Those were the days!

Realizing, of course, that we are starting 3 freshmen and a sophomore. This team's best basketball is ahead of them - maybe even a year away.

I predicted them for 17 wins but I will say I expected them to be playing a little cleaner by this point but it hasnt come together yet...it will but it might not be until February

If we play like we did last night vs. ISU we will lose by 10-15.

2-16 from 3-point land needed to happen against South Dakota as opposed to ISU. The 3-pointers will be back on Friday night (I predict 10-20 from 3-point land). Keep the inside game going, we passed the ball very well from big-to-big......White, Woodbury and Basabe need the ball on the post Friday night. Get ISU in early foul trouble and we will win this game.
