Talking about beer on HN was a quality past time. Why not here? Currently drinking Boulevard's Grainstorm..........mmmmmmmm. It's a good Black IPA. Oh, and I just bought a case of La Folie yesterday, and it's fucking tasty..

God fucking dammit why does central Iowa always get everything two weeks before eastern Iowa? Are they hauling that shit across the state with mules or what?

Grainstorm is seriously delicious, Other. If you enjoy a Black IPA, get this one. If I remember correctly, you're not fond of Rye. This is a black Rye IPA, but it's soooooo damn smoooooooth and properly hopped.

I like beer. Occasionally (though not in a long time) brew it.
What are some of your 'go to's? Your Hopslams, Stone specialties among others are great, but what about beer you can get anytime where you live?
For me it's Peace Tree's Blonde Fatale, Bell's Two Hearted, and Founder's Dirty Bastard. These are solid choices that I can get just about anywhere in Central Iowa.
If I'm in Chicago, Two Floyd's can do no fucking wrong.

I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Bell's Two Hearted...............
My go to's vary constantly. Stone, even their regular lineup, is quality stuff and available in Iowa full-time now.
I almost always have: some kind of Boulevard, some kind of Leinies, TwoHearted, and multiple LoF's from New Belgium around..........

Since this is a wide open thread, I'll just throw out a random recommendation. Twine (fellow poster here) lived out in Colorado. We went and visited and he took out on a little brew tour which included Breckinridge (in Breckinridge) and Tommyknocker in Idaho City. Between the beer, people, and the scenic view, it made for a memoral day I'd love to replicate soon.

Already had a Left Hand Milk Stout and a Black Crown. Bar just got some of both, so I stole some. I really like Left Hand. They make some good brews.

Rye done right is fine but i don't like it when it has that astringent bitterness (think SN ruthless rye).

My last growler was "sour stout" from a local microbrewer. It was very tasty. Saturday I'm going to head to another micro in CLT and refill two of my other growlers. I'm digging the local fresh stuff a lot more than bottled, and have been for a while. I'm lucky that greater Charlotte has so many excellent craft brewers.

I like it but it's not from the infected batch which was fucking glorious. That beer and JP BDM were the only beers that I ever said 'GO OUT and BUY NOW!'

I never see too much for Tommyknocker around here except for the black ale, which I do like.
