Yeah, if there is one place that is hostile to gay women, it's the University of Iowa. TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!! #WRAC One of my favorite thing about the old U is going back to see the ladies' WRAC.

BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!! I never knew there was an ESPNW until I read this story. To say that it is once sided might be just a slight understatement. Warning it's long as shit, but pretty funny, look I am no Barta fan but this "conspiracy" about women coaches at Iowa is laughable. espn.go.com/espnw/news-commentary/article/11773583/what-heck-going-iowa-athletic-department?src=mobile&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22:%22http://t.co/nK1ab3E0E5%22%7DMy favorite part- As mentioned above, Griesbaum was the fifth female coach that Barta has fired -- or forced to resign -- in the past five years. (Barta took over as athletic director in 2006.) Softball coach Gayle Blevins "retired" in 2010; golf coach Kelly Crawford was told to "resign or be fired" in 2011; rowing coach Mandi Kowal was told to "resign or be fired" in 2012; and the contract of volleyball coach Sharon Dingman was not renewed in 2012.Let's see- Blevins didn't "retire" she retired and last time I checked that isn't fired or being forced to resign not to mention she was the coach at the school for 23 years and was wait for it...................replaced by a female coach Crawford the article failed to mention that she finished dead last in the Big Ten the final two years she was the coach. Dingman Yep there must have been something besides that 66-125 overall record because I mean who wouldn't want to keep that coach around. Kowal was the rowing coach for a program that was at it's best was average even after the $7 million boathouse was built and was forced to resign after a former athlete complained of mistreatment. You know the same reason why Griesbaum was fired. And of course doesn't mention the fact that a semi successful female basketball coach has been at Iowa for 15 years.

Yeah, I heard on Twitter that it was quite the hack job. They didn't even mention that Griesbaum was banging an associate AD and part of the complaint is that she was using her girlfriend to bypass Barta and gain influence for her program.

Here's the author- and she wrote a book about coming out in college when she played women's basketball at Colorado. I also find it comical that she works for one of the most famous sexist companies in the US.

And now this shit is really getting good- IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa announced Wednesday it had received notice from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) of an investigation related to the firing of former field hockey coach Tracey Griesbaum.
Four of her former players filed a complaint in January with the OCR after they said the university refused to look into whether gender played a role in Griesbaum’s firing.
She was fired August 4, 2014 by Athletic Director Gary Barta after several players said they were verbally abused by the coach and pressured to play while injured. The University of Iowa Department of Human Resources and the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity found no violations, though investigators described a “team environment of fear, intimidation, and/or mistreatment by Coach Griesbaum,” according to the university. thegazette.com/subject/news/education/higher-education/university-of-iowa-faces-federal-civil-rights-investigation-in-coachs-firing-20150603What a fucking waste of money.

Wow...just...wow bigstory.ap.org/article/6a815ba1118d49c599e9fb0a5b4be991/apnewsbreak-feds-open-broad-bias-probe-iowa-athleticsThe second federal complaint was filed in September and stemmed from the first, according to Tom Newkirk, whose Des Moines law firm assisted with both and is representing Griesbaum and Meyer.
Newkirk said the second complaint, which is being kept confidential by the federal government, alleges Barta has kept dozens of unnecessary players on the women's rowing roster to avoid the expense of having to add another women's sport.
"That's allowed him to plow more money into football and basketball," he said. Two thoughts here: One, what the fuck is a necessary player on any rowing roster, and two, with this logic, how would cutting a bunch of rowers and adding a new sport not be discrimination against the rowers? The U of I currently offers every sport sanctioned for girls by Iowa High Schools, except bowling. U of I has a women's team for Gymnastics, Field Hockey, and Rowing, which are not Iowa HS sports. What are they supposed to do, add another sport no one in Iowa plays?

Tom's primary although not exclusive focus within discrimination law is the representation of African Americans and women in their pursuit of an equitable share of the benefits of American society.www.newkirklaw.com/en/about_us/tom_newkirk/I find it funny the dude's name is Newkirk and not shocked that he seems like a douche with an ax to grind since he went to Drake.
