Z looked dominant tonight. Now the rest of the starters need to get their shit together. Anxious to see what Lieber does in the starting position.

Absolutely awful. Better get this ship turned around pretty quickly. STL is playing damn good ball right now, and while they can't play at this clip all year long, who wants to get too far behind this early in the year?
Not I.

Does anyone honestly believe Jon Lieber is a servicable starter anymore? Besides Pinella and Rothchild?

I thought he might be coming in. He had been pitching pretty well...I want to say his ERA was under 2...and he had quite a few appearences. Obviously, that's not the case anymore.

Just seems Leiber has bounced around quite a bit the last few years as a 4th or 5th starter. He can't be any better than Marquis, which isn't saying too much. Honestly, the Cubs are better off letting Hill or Marshall take their knocks and gain the experience.

I think Hill has the talent to be a Bedard like starter....sans injury hopefully.
I'd rather not take too many knocks this season as the Cubs have their eyes set on the postseason...no room this season to let young guys figure it out in the big show.

I never been a fan of Scott Eyre, according to the Cubs, they want to get Sean Marshall's arm stronger to be a starter so they wanna get him some starts in AAA Iowa. Which I am all for, because if we got Lieber in, we're fuked hard. Is this really that funny.... Neways, Lily K's 10 yesterday against a good D'Backs squad, he needed that outing big time! Can't wait for sunday's game Randy Johnson vs Carlos Z!

Cubs to sign Edmonds? I don't have a link right now but it is indeed a rumor with legs. Bad move as far as I am concerned. Jimmy has no stick anymore. Is he even an upgrade in the field over Pie? I say keep giving the young guy reps.
Edit:
Here is a story from MLBtraderumors.com
Cubs Likely To Sign Edmonds
TUESDAY: Gordon Wittenmeyer of the Chicago Sun-Times says the Cubs "appear poised to sign Edmonds after he clears waivers Wednesday."
MONDAY: According to Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs are "exploring the possibility" of signing center fielder Jim Edmonds. This was first reported by Bruce Levine of ESPN Radio 1000 yesterday evening.
Edmonds, 37, was let go after hitting .178/.265/.233 in 103 plate appearances. It's hard to say whether Edmonds has anything left. He did hit relatively well in the last two months of 2007. Van Dyck says Edmonds would replace Felix Pie on the Cubs' roster.

Stab me in the face. An absolutely AWFUL idea. The guy is washed up. Not to mention, half the team will be wearing mascara within a month.

Prove me wrong, but absolutely agree MoHawk. Pisses me off he's going to be taking a roster spot. I just hope in a month we can look back at these posts and laugh at ourselves...I don't that's going to happen, though.

In a month, you'll be saying "Hendry is godlike for landing Edmonds" as he tears through a hot streak. Then, when you need some timely hitting in must-win games in late-August and September, you'll be effed in the A.

HELL NO AND HELL FUCKING NO. JUST STUPIDITY IF HE IS SIGNED, maybe he should go to your Sox BTR and then you can joff to Kenny Williams if he succeds.

I have been watching major league baseball for over 40 years and I have NEVER seen a bigger crybaby in all that time. I will boo his ass no matter what uniform he is wearing. Bad, bad move. Another glaring sign that Jim Hendry is just not that good as GM.

With his offensive numbers, is he really that much better than Pie? Pie is just as good defensively in center as Edmonds, and apparently the both suck at the dish. Only thing is Pie is younger...poor signing in my opinion, if they pull the trigger. BTW, is the game not televised tonight??? I'm going to be pissed if it isn't!

My skin is absolutely crawling at the prospect of having to be, at the very least, neutral towards Jim Edmonds. I can't think of a single MLB player that I've hated more in my entire fan life...and that includes Derek Jeter, Clemens and any other member of the Yankees, Cardinals or White Sox. With the possible exception of AJ Pierzynski.
