Iowa hoops is ruined? Because we have no talent on the team? FYI it will be (for the most part) the same team next year. I seriously hope they overachieve so all the people saying this team has no talent will eat some crow.

Plus Looby gone. 6 (and possibly more) recruits - Tucker, Gatens, Davis, Brommer, Fuller, and Bawinkle. How is that in any way the same team? 11 players on the squad this year (10 without Cole), next year we'll have 15. THIS YEAR: Freeman Johnson Kelly Tate Gorney Peterson Looby Bohall Angle Palmer Cole (IR) NEXT YEAR: Freeman Kelly Peterson Gatens Tucker Tate Cole Davis Brommer Fuller Bawinkel Lil Lickliter Bohall Angle (maybe) Palmer (maybe) This team will be in NO WAY the same next year as it was this year.

right, take away 3 seniors, add 7 FRESHMEN, and we'll be awesome next year. unless 2 of the freshmen are all big ten, i would expect a second tier finish again. explain why i'm wrong?
edit: i would guess about 60% or more of the minute next year are played by guys on the team currently.

Iowa hoops is ruined? Because we have no talent on the team? I guess I missed the part where Alford left the cupboard well stocked. To me (and everybody else except you), he left Iowa with a bunch of role players and guys who would never play on any other big 10 squad. I'd say that's "ruining" a team. Not to mention the crap fest that was the alford era. How can you not say that was the worst era of basketball you've lived through? Turning a team that was a fixture in the NCAA tournament and making them into a joke IS THE VERY DEFINITION of ruining a team. now that we're free from the rules of "that other board" we no longer have to hold back on alford apologists and their stupid, nonsensical arguments. we're finally free to unload with our full nuclear arsenal.

SEVEN freshman? Better check that again. 5 freshman, 4 on scholly. You get Kelly (starter) back, Freeman (starter) back, Tate (starter) back. Cole and Peterson have a year under their belts. Two JUCOs coming in (thus far), including Bawinkle, who in his senior year was the 4th best player in state of Illinois. Of the 5 freshman coming in, you have two Mr. Basketball award winners (Gatens and Fuller), with Tucker in the running for the award in Minnesota. Deeper bench, one year under the new system, and a stockload of great recruits. Yea, it's going to be a completely different team with different results.

I am really looking forward to seeing what all of the new guys bring to the team. It will also be nice that Lick has a full team so he can play the guys that buy into the system and bench the guys that don't. He didn't have much of a choice this year on who to play and I think all of the players knew it.

And really... I'm not sure how a Hawkeye fan COULDN'T be.
