Uribe at second...I don't know if I can stand to watch him hit .210 again. He does come up with a big hit now and again though. He walks 5% of the time and strikes out 25%, not a fun ratio to watch.

I about shat myself when I heard that. Guch was available. He loved Chicago. His family was a pillar of the Japanese community out in Arlington Heights/Scumburg. The Sox could have tried to bring him back.
Regardless, I'm shocked that Uribe is still an everyday player. I know we don't see eye to eye on the WS win, I think it was a pure fluke that came about from winning almost every close game in 2005 and having the pitching turn white hot at just the right time, but I hope you can subscribe to my thesis that Williams is not the front office leader the media made him out to be in 2005 and Guillen is one of the stupidest managers in baseball. Hopefully we'll be .500 this year, but I highly doubt it.
I'm going on April 12. Those are my only tix so far. I'll play the rest of the season by ear. I like going to the ballpark when it's not too crowded and given the ticket prices and how shitty the team looks on paper, I think there will be plenty of games with light crowds. Maybe we'll have a wasteland party at some Saturday game down there this summer.

If the WS was a fluke, it is one I was happy to accept. I think last year was a fluke also. I don't think they were going to win the division or anything but it was the perfect storm of lack of hitting and relief pitching. Nobody on the team hit until July and the relief pitching is still trying to get their first out. I have been watching baseball for a long time and I have never seen worse relief pitching in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings.
I will agree with you on Williams. I'm not a big fan. After the WS, it is like he thought he was the star of the show. He needs to do his job and stay out of the press if all he is going to do is go after former players that he has let go or traded away. On Guillen, I will disagree with you on that a little bit. He is not the best manager out there but I also don't think he is the worst either. Maybe it is because I like some of his antics and outbursts.
I have tickets for the July 18th game so far. It seems that they are unveiling a Harold Baines statue that day....he happens to be my fav player of all time. I didn't know anything about the statue when I bought the tickets, good karma I guess. I will probably make it to 3-4 games this Summer. I predict 83-85 wins and no playoffs this season.

Well Uribe still sucks.
Scotthawk - did you see that the Sox signed a deal with the Blackhawks for various promotions including a puck shooting game on top of the dugout between innings? Good to see them tying the Sox and Hawks together - they have a lot of the same fans bince Cub fans are too soft to watch hockey.

I did see that. I saw some of the Hawks, Kane Wisneuski sp??, and a couple others in Hawk and Sox gear. Very cool thing as I am a Hawks fan also. They are finally getting people back into the UC for hockey. I can see cub fans showing up in a year or 2 after the Hawks and Sox fans make it the place to be in the Winter. Cub fans will ride the coattails of the hockey rebirth in Chicago.

I went a few weeks ago and had a blast (way better atmosphere than a few years ago), I'll definitely go to a few games a year going forward. When the Hawks are on the brink of winning the Cup, all the Cub fans will show up with brand new gear from HawkQuarters.

The old man Wirtz era was horrible. I don't wish death on anyone but thats's what it took to get this team moving in the right direction. All games on tv next year and putting an exciting product on the ice is/was a great first step. The other day Savy and Tallon said that they will go after a couple more big pieces this offseason. I hope they can pull something off. I did see that. I saw some of the Hawks, Kane Wisneuski sp??, and a couple others in Hawk and Sox gear. Very cool thing as I am a Hawks fan also. How many times do I have to own you? Check the attendance numbers for the 2007 - 2008 season. Overall, the league set an all time attendance record. The Blackhawk attendance was up over 20%. I think it will be up another 10 - 15 % next season. Yes it is, apparently you haven't been paying attention. Just like the rest of the country.

Hey assbag - even Urbandale and the Des Moines Bucs have some representation in the NHL. The NHL is significantly better with the new rules. It's just that it isn't a great activity to watch on TV unless you are Canadian.

Perhaps that is why it isn't on TV anymore, or at least on any mainstream channels. Isn't it on the Outdoor network? Do they even show highlights on ESPN anymore? I've been to a Bucs game and a few W'loo Blackhawks games while I was at UNI. They were fun. I've tried watching on TV, and it just didn't work at all.

Oh yeah, NHL '94 on the Sega Genesis. I still play the emulator every so often today. You would be entering a world of pain if you tried to play me in that game, although 95 was my year on it. Blackhawks had Belfour, Roenick, Chelios, Savard, Suter, Probert and Tony Amonte.

Boston with Adam Oates, Cam Neely, Joe Juneau, Ray Bourque, and Joe Murphy( ) Buffalo is good too with Alexander Mogilny (super fast) and Pat LaFontaine. I bet it would be a pretty good match up if we were to battle. I'm willing to bet that it would be easier using an actual controller rather than a laptop keyboard.

Yes, Mogilny was sick fast, but Amonte and Roenick were really fast too. Boston had a sick team. Detroit was pretty good as well. Fedorov was unstoppable on that game.

I wish but I won't be in Chicago until July. The family treck to the South Side is in July. Sox - Royals tickets on the 19th (I think) whatever the date is for the Saturday game. I usually have tickets for 3-4 games by now but not yet this season. I was gonna ask....what kind of law do you practice? Not that I need a lawyer at the moment though.
