For Erin it probably beats the hell out of waiting for a midnight call from the law, saying her husband was arrested for driving naked drunk again. Come on. Who doesn't strip down before driving drunk? That way, you can claim a psychotic episode or some such shit. The Taco Bell was calling his name!

I'll say. I'd love to have pizza for supper tonight. If I change my mind and decide to have burgers, does that make me a liar?

This might be the most asinine post I've ever read.
"Here's what people seem to not understand. When you're a coach in college, you are so much more than that. Coaches in college are the General Manager as well. They recruit, schedule, etc. In the NBA, the scheduling is pretty much done for you by the NBA. I think Fred just wants to coach, and let GarPax get his players for him (although I don't think the current roster is a Hoiball type roster).
I just can't blame him for not wanting those extra duties. Although, there are AT LEAST 82 games in a season. Then you have preseason and playoffs. Some coaches even participate in the summer league (others relegate job to assistants). The traveling all over would be fun for a bit, but would get really old and annoying after a while. Reggie Miller explained this on NBATV Open Court on one of the shows."

I hope someone reminds him how long it is before it's too late.

Re: Does the legacy of the "mayor" change after this?
it is more of a what could have been than ruining anything he has done. He will have a good legacy here, but he had a chance to be our Izzo, Bo Ryan, or coach K. He could have been the only one to surpass Johnny's legacy. That won't happen now.
cyclonefanatic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204544BWAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAAA!!! Johnny Tombstone amassed a gripping 218-200 record is 14 seasons at ISU (52% winning) and three post season wins in 7 tries. That's a lower winning percentage than Steve Alford had at Iowa. Johnny also only had two seasons where he finished over .500 in Big 8 play. By any measure, Fred is a vastly superior coach to Johnny Tombstone in almost any respects. However, Johnny never left Ames (the 2nd most important thing to ISU fans), and Johnny liked to troll the hox (most important thing to ISU fans). The fact that he was basically an average coach means nothing to him so long as he never moved on with his life and stuck it to big brother.

A lot of time is spent viewing this stupid Shit........ Hmm How can one not look at it? It's like a burning clown car; Hilarious and sad at the same time. I just like it when there are consequences realized to one's decisions. For example, if a baseball player uses steroids, I don't want them to succeed and not understand what a poor decision they made. I want their body to break down and for them not to succeed so that they realize the negative consequences of their poor decision.
I know Fred's decision is different in that he isn't cheating or doing anything illegal, but I do believe it is a horrible career move on his part, and it wouldn't hurt me one bit if he quickly discovers that and has to learn from it.
You don't mess with karma. And Fred had the perfect job and life in Ames, and now he's going to mess with that karma because he thinks the grass is greener in the NBA for some odd reason? I think most guys that have jumped to the NBA will tell you it's not all that it's cracked up to be. It will not hurt me in the least if Fred does not find success there. In fact, I will be a bit happier if he doesn't, and he realizes just how good he really had it in Ames.

"I'm hoping he brings Royce and Kane to Chicago. It would be fun to watch the Bulls with those guys and Fred next year"
If only they can get Ejim away from his minor league turkish league, they gonna win it all.

So does this guy just stare at the bench all game long? Because that's where Royce and Kane would be in the unlikely event the rookie head coach manages to talk the organization to bring in some terrible players.

Fred's ISU teams could easily beat low level NBA teams.

Honestly though guys as Iowa fans isn't this the best outcome that could have happened for us? I mean personally, I figured the only way Fred left was by becoming a martyr. This way is so much better. Clown fans get totes butthurt, and Fred leaving makes Fran the man in the state of Iowa.

Seeing clones suck is common, and they are used to it, but to see their "championship" dreams smashed is ultimate laffy. They really believed that Freddy loved them all like brothers and now they find out that he interviewed with any team he possibly could to get out of Ames. on the basketball side, they have an opportunity to hire the right guy that could do some real damage with the talent this year (see Dr Tom with Raveling talent) but they won't because they will remember they are Iowa state. They will go with otzenburger and hope that he is Hoiberg lite, and then reality will set in and he will go the way of every other non-legacy pollard hire.

If this isn't the ultimate notice that ISU isn't a destination school, I don't know what is. I mean, it's bad enough losing Cael, but he wasn't homegrown. They always knew that Chiz was using ISU as a stepping stone, but this is so much worse. They hired Pauw, a guy who frankly had no business being a Power 5 head coach, because he was local (and thus would never leave them). I wonder what they'll do to keep from getting burned again. Hire the mummified remains of Johnny Orr? Get Randy Peterson to coach for a few years? Just let Chris Williams take over?

Barring a Hornacek miracle, ISUck gonna be stuck with some mid-level douchebag. They'll be rueing the day they Natty Lighted Eustachy Ames is a fuckin shithole. Iowa City is a big time college town with a nice cultural scene. You feel like you're somewhere that matters. Ames? Apparently the water is yummy. But that's prolly a lie too.

BUTT STATUS: EPIC HURTWon't bother to watch the presser. More FH BS. Oh it was a diffucult decision, I love ISU, blah, blah. Fred, we know the real you now so just tell us that you are a money lover that sh** on ISU for your personal financial gain. Oh and thanks for quitting while still getting paid. We can and will do better with a coach that is actually upfront and truthful.

It will probably be later today as Fred is in Chicago according to some Iowa news reports. It's rather funny that they all think it's just about money. Maybe he wants that challenge and to get the ultimate goal of any player/coach and to win it all in the highest league in the land. But nope, they are extremely butthurt and feel like he betrayed them by leaving and not being a Mike Zdahfklsadgyurqhevfdjski like Duke has. Or a no talent loser like Johnny Orr who really didn't win anything other than some games against Iowa and he could never find anything better and the school idolizes that loser because he never left.
