This is another reason why I am much more into pro sports anymore.
I can watch my teams (fuck you ESPN U) and the ownership of my teams actually listens to fans because they know who lines their pockets. Just ask Lovie Smith.

Yeah, you know something gumby, I will admit that for all the greed people accuse the pro leagues of having, when it comes to in-market NFL and MLB games, the local fans don't get fucked in the least. Here in the Chicago area, you are guaranteed to have over the air access to every single Bears game and a huge slate of Cubs and Sox games (other than those on CSN). When one of those teams plays on ESPN, there is always an overflow of the game on WCIU or WGN so that people without cable can watch the games. I mean, sure you can get screwed out of the doubleheader on Sundays sometimes because the networks rarely show a game overlapping with the Bears, but you are guaranteed to get every single Bears game on broadcast TV. For fucks sake, I could live in Iowa City and go the entire year without getting an Iowa game on TV unless they were good enough to warrant drawing a 2:30 or 7 PM national or regional broadcast on ABC. That is a god damned travesty. I honestly hadn't considered that angle, but now that I think about it, it is utter fucking bullshit and it pisses me off.

But yeah, I'd rather watch the Bears every week from home and know that they are going to make fucking changes if shit doesn't pan out than pay through the dickhole for a mediocre (at best) B1G program that could give two shits about fans so long as they are still making bank.

I thought I got hosed initially, but it has turned out better.
I was in the NE slice of the north endzone. 44 rows up. Perfect. No proles or kids around....only a few cool Crown-swigging males.
Then, Iowa takes those away because they're re-seating the visitors. That torked me.
OK, so I ponied up the extra $200 per ticket to upgrade my seats.
Good choice I must say.
New home is section 108. Section 108 = east stands, 12 yard line, row 50. Southern end of stands.
No proles once again, people liked my Crown, no sucky opponent fans, and only a couple of kids who'll disappear when the weather gets cold.
Sans the WAY TO FUKKING LOUD PA SYSTEM....re-seating worked for me.

I thought the PA system was perfect, of course I sit on the North side of the stadium.
Our new seats are much better, will be interesting to see if those that were there on Saturday will be there all year. A redneck douche and his 350 lb. wife sitting in front of us was the only negative. He was also puffing on an e cigarette all game.
One of the guys behind us might become annoying as he didn't know who some of the players were, like what number Canzeri or Weisman were he also asked me what it means when the ref throws his hat on the ground. (OK, I know that isn't common knowledge but one would think a make in his 40's would know it)
Other than that happy with those around us.

HappyChef was not happy with the fucks who stole our seats. And as suspected, they had more points than us by virtue of being in their late 50's. They wouldn't trade seats and let our group sit together.

Then that means it was an illegal chop block of the safety. 5 yard penalty and you have to punt."

Stand up the fall is that bad.
I had a really bad feeling we were funna shit the bed so I went down to the NECKCAR race in Joliet where mah boy Kyle Larson busted his ass to run in the top 5 all day and finish second a half a car length ahead of Kyle Busch, who had a dominant car all day. I suspect that I had moar fun crushing 16 Coors Lights in the parking lot and in the track (they let you take a 6 pack in) and watching the race than I would have had driving to IC and watching the Hox. I came home and just deleted the game off of mah DVR because I suspect it was a lot of the same bullshit ineffective QBing I saw last week and I really don't care to see that again, but if I could get a few sentences of the normal top notch analysis I've come to expect from y'all, it would be much obliged.
Thx.

In our new seats and we sit next to a group 3 couples that live in Souix Falls. The leave Friday night, stay in Dez Moines on both Friday and Saturday nights.
And I thought having to drive 10 minutes home after watching that shitfest was bad.

maybe you need to reevaluate your priorities, toots. There is a direct correlation between the unquestioning support ($$$) of good folks like you and the dull, underachieving status quo that is kirt ferrets & Iowa football. If enough gullible saps fans stop buying season tickets, maybe GarBar and Sally will finally listen to vox populi. Correct. I had a ticket but was so god damned disgusted with the offense after watching Ball State that I seriously didn't want to watch the game because I knew either we would miraculously find an offense and crush Iowa State in a snoozefest or we would not find an offense and lose. If a die hard liek me chooses to go to a minor league NECKCAR race rather than drive to IC, there are problems. I wasn't alone, either. Damn near 10% of the fans at the race were wearing Hok gear and I crushed a couple with some fellas with a Hok canopy who drove over from Eastern Iowa and sold their tickets to the ISU game. If pictures of me crushing beers under an Illini canopy surface, it was mah buddy's canopy and not mine, but every fucking Hok fan who walked by had to comment on it. But we're both smart football fans, we knew better than to waste one of the last nice days of the year watching half assed football teams in action. God, the Big Ten fucking sucks.

Oh, and Chuck, I met a fella from Huntersville who was up visiting fam in Crystal Lake - nice dude, but he dropped some "n bombs" with respect to some people who were tailgating so I kind of kept mah distance.

No chance in hell I am dropping $1200 for tickets and spending 12 hours in a car, paying for a hotel two nights, gas, food, and basically taking up an entire weekend for a team to play like shit. For me it's a day and just the tickets and seat donation.
