Yeah, I've got it. They've been good with me, but the two times I've called have been to add services. I get, um, how should I say it, a uh more urban customer service rep when I call. The problem is this rep prolly thinks he is gonna rocket from CSR Monkey to CSR Shift Manager to CSR Retention Manager to CSR Supervisor to Regional Manager to Regional Supervisor to District Manager to District Supervisor to Operations Admin I to Operations Admin II to Admin Manager to COO to CEO so he takes his job way too srsly.

Pretty sure this was the Retention department. I worked for McLeod in the past and we had a retention department for people wanting to leave. They make bonuses and shit for talking people into staying. This guy was prob right on the edge of not making his quota. Not that it matters now as I doubt he still has a job.

I don't know why people assume he got fired. He's doing what he's told to do. His fucking bosses listen to that shit, and if it went:
"Hello, I'm calling to disconnect my service"
"Ok, let me do that for you. Confirm your account number..."
Then his ass would be fired.

Except the fact he took it well past the "what can we do to continue to earn your business". They started recording 10 minutes into the phone conversation and after his wife was so upset that the guy wouldn't cancel their service she gave the phone to her husband. Or the fact that he came off like a total prick that wasn't going to take no for an answer. That said the funniest part about the call is that employee truly believes that Comcast is the greatest company in the world.

The whole "prick who thinks his company is (sports teams and coaches are) the greatest despite all evidence to the contrary" is very much an isu clown delusion. I don't think Comcast has any call centers in Iowa, therefore he cannot be a Clown Grad.

Okay so I was right about him being in retention and his pay being based on keep customers. Here is an explanation from someone who worked there:

Yeah, I am sure part of their scheme isn't to badger canceling subscribers into submission through attrition.

You are going to lose some anyways but if you can push them hard enough to give up and stay, why not?

like water over a rock. it looks harmless and twinkly-pretty, but over time, it wears a deep groove see e.g. teh grand canyon They are already known for the worst customer service in the industry so they have nowhere to go but up.

You are going to lose some anyways but if you can push them hard enough to give up and stay, why not? There's no disincentive for the customer service guy to let you off the line. He holds all of the cards (you can't cancel without him), and, apparently, his fucking livelihood is on the line, so why would he just let you cancel? String a guy out for 15 minutes, and he'll finally be liek "FUCK IT!"

I finally listened to the recording. It's fucking insane. It feels fake, but I know it isn't. I kept expecting the comcast troll to yell, "GET BRETT WEIR I SAID!!" Honestly, I think the guy canceling was just as big an asshole.

Honestly, I think the guy canceling was just as big an asshole. Totally agree. He was a whiny fagt who never had control of the transaction/conversation. Totes gutless turd who thought he was dominating liek a boss, but meanwhile the comcast troll was steamrolling him. Prolly a millennial hipster. Well he gets paid to maintain control of the call and he did a great job of it. Dude just needed that bonus to make the next prius payment.
