The Hispanic immigrants started showing up around 1990. I remember it well because quite frankly, it was one of the main reasons my family picked up and moved to the south side of town. They get a bad rep because of how they came in. They would buy a 600 sq ft house and 10 people would be crammed in there living at one time. House by house they started buying up the northeast side of town. Their children were the real troublemakers. My first run in with some of them was just a random event. I was riding my bike from the gas station going down an alley and a Hispanic kid ran out from behind a garage and shoved me off my bike. Two more ran up and started kicking me in the stomach. Luckily a passing car saw it and a couple of people chased them off, of course, they took my bike too. We never found the bike although I did see one of the kids again but I wasn't going to have any part of him. My story wasn't an isolated incident in that part of town.
I was reading the comments about the sign vandalism on WHO's website and it was very heated. I think the remaining people in Mtown are getting fed up with the immigration issue. I know a guy who is now the Tama Co prosecutor but he worked for Marshall Co for a while. He told me that there is a lot of gang activity in town, but nobody talks about it because it seems to stay confined to those involved in it. I think there is going to be more conflict in the future, and personally I'm shocked it too nearly 25 years to come to a head.

Good thing Reagan and Branstad broke all of those unions in the 80's, that way all of those packers could make bigger profits with cheap labor. When they were able to get rid of all of those freeloader workers, the benefits trickled down. Clearly, this worked out for everyone.

What makes it worse is that there are literal billboards on the Mexican side of the border advertising Marshalltown. They didn't just end up here by accident. People finally have the balls to say what has been obvious for years, the Hispanics have absolutely ruined Marshalltown. I'm not saying Marshalltown was a utopia before 1990, but it was a decent Iowa community. Now some parts of town you might as well have a passport when you drive into them.

UHHHHHH, that sign was spray painted when? Apparently you weren't paying attention. The Mexicans have been coming to Iowa long before Obama even had a political career. Good try though.

Obama was president in 1990? Doesn't matter. He is an incompetent empty suit who can't communicate without a teleprompter the master of all time and space.

I actually looked Millard Fillmore up. He was the last president who wasn't R or D. His party was the Know Nothings, which I guess were Whig. He was also unitarian, which is sorta kewl. So you're interested in religion as long as you don't worship anything in particular? JK, but I think 19th century Unitarianism is a bit different from the Unitarian-Universalist theology that exists today.

MY POINT WAS THAT HE WASN'T A SLAVE TO SOMEONE ELSE'S DOCTRINE Also, U-Us are wicked annoying. At least the ones I've known are. Millard Fillmore didn't come up with the doctrine, so how didn't he adhere to anyone else's doctrine?
