Fucking BTN showed 14 seconds of Iowa game highlights. Jesus, fuck, there is 44 minutes of content in a one hour show and those fuckers gave no time to Iowa - I have no fucking clue if they're going to actually show the fucking game today because the BTN schedule is all jacked up (or maybe it isn't and they really are showing the Michigan and Nebraska games from yesterday a total of 8 fucking times).
Anyway, I heard that our secondary is so fucking bad that Tanner Miller and Adam Shada would be a welcome sight. True? I heard our linebackers got torched (which was mah biggest concern going into the season). True? How does Rudock look? Is the offense truly fucking worse than O'Keefe's?

LBs struggled on pass defense. Big time.

I will go further into it with Three Day Hangover, but to me, the play of the game was at the end of the second half, Rudock scrambled, and threw a 2 yard drag pass, in bounds with 10 seconds left, rather than go down field or throw it out of bounds.
For some context, out of 31 completions, 12 of Rudock's passes went for fewer than 5 yards.

They don't call one and the next play they did what you said.

They had three TO's and plenty of time, which meant the middle of the field should have been open deep. Not giving the defense time to set up should, theoretically, give the offense an advantage. However, Joke seems so risk averse to the point where he makes bad decisions. Some jerk off on Sound Off was all liek "Errr, these fans that don't know nuthin complain about the short passes, but then call up when he throws interceptions". No Jethro, those short passes were harming the offense quite a bit. You know why we were averaging less than 4 yards rushing? Because UNI knew we weren't going to throw down field. Shit, the one time we did, the guy was open by 10 fucking feet.

LOL, I was listening to the Clone's post-game radio show on 100.3, why?, and a guy called in from the Dez claiming to be a donor in the $25,000-$35,000 range. Was pretty upset with ISU's defensive effort. Chris Williams set him straight by saying he didn't think it was a problem of effort.

I don't understand the horizontal passing game. By the time the guy catches the ball his momentum is taking him out of bounds. Worthless. We have multiple vertical threats. Use them. If joke is too skeerrd to chuck it, put in surfer dude. He will chuck it.
The linebackers finally learned how to do their jobs in the 4th quarter.

If our LBs don't learn to defend the middle of the field, we are fucked. Teams just saw the blue print on how to beat our defense. Hopefully Jewell gets healthy and is decent. It looks like the two DBs are going to be good this year, but safety is a concern per usual.

That's why even when I saw how soft our schedule was I still wasn't convinced we'd win more than 7 games. We've all seen the painful cycle of watching new LBs get broken in. I have no doubt that these guys will all be studs because Kurt always manages to make it happen, but it's gonna be a long 2014 season while these guys get their trials by fire.

Alston got beat on only one of the wheel routes to Johnson. The other two were Spearman who looked lost and played pretty much like shit the entire game.
Bower played much better than I thought he would. A great pick in a zone drop and a sack. Not flashy but knows where he is suppose to be.
Alston will be fine, they weren't getting the bump on the LOS like is needed.
Still first game they will get better.
On O JFC throw the damn ball downfield Smith was open several times and many more in straight man to man coverage. Throwing a fucking 2 yard out to your TE expecting to break a big play is comical. Hopefully it was first game jitters from Rudock.
The OL also played like shit, their run blocking was horrible.

All in all another great day in Historic Kinnick Stadium. Parker does not have his new defense installed and it showed. Good game to give people a chance.

All in all another great day in Historic Kinnick Stadium. Parker does not have his new defense installed and it showed. Good game to give people a chance. We won and like it or not I knew UNI was going to put up a fight. The best part of the game is the D really played pretty well aside from the 3 massive mistakes on the Johnson long catches. Those are fixable mistakes via coaching and reviewing film. The DL played very well and pretty much took away any running game also got a ton of pressure. That's a huge positive sign. On O, Well that is another story, all teams are going to try and take away the run vs us and if Davis doesn't open things up downfield we are going to be fucked. And Rudock checked down WAY too fucking often. Our punting and FG kicking is average at best, that really needs to improve. Special team coverage units played well. Josey Jewell really needs to get healthy as I don't think Spearman knows what the hell he is doing out there.

I was a BIG Joke over Beat Hard supporter after the Outback Bowl, but Joke played a complete shit game yesterday. I don't give a shit that he had a good completion percentage.
