Can someone go and let the Hawks know that when the weather is this bad, they need to stay inside and far far far away from snowplows.

I thought it was Todd Lickliter Bobblehead Night. A head doesn't bobble much when it's being cradled by two hands.

Nice win for the Hawks. Ugly, but it still counts.

Some, just SOME, decent shooting will get them the W in many games. jUNO was totally outgunned, but the hawks have a helluva time hitting shots. They hit just enough to win. They typically dominate in many categories except that strangely relevant FG% one.

Thank God this team can shoot -- and make -- free throws. Iowa made 10 more FTs than Nebby even attempted. Made 81.6 percent for the night, largely due to Gabe going 12 for 13 and Whitey hitting 12 of 15. They're better than last year. We lost a ton of close games last year because of poor FT shooting.

So, are we really back? Or were we fortunate to get road wins against two teams that are customarily stronger -- the Cheatin' Roys and Thad's Red-faced Toads -- and a home win against an undermanned Nebby? This Iowa team does some things really well. As noted, it plays the kind of game that typically leads to more free throws than the opponents and it does well to make them. And, when Gesell, Whitey and Ultrahoff can get out and run, they are dangerous. Olaseni needs to start and play more minutes, period. But force this team into a half-court game and they are more sunk than a Georges Niang three-pointer. Shoot under 40 percent they're not going to win many more games in the B1G.

Maybe the shake down by Northern Florida's coach shamed these assholes into missing a few less shots. While there are still structural problems with the talent on the roster, there are still silver linings, mainly that our top 5 are upperclassmen who have had moderate success, and we have length that can give otter teams problems. If we shoot below average instead of plain shitty, we can prolly squeeze out 9 BoneG wins. Will they keep up their hot streak of below average shooting? Who the fuck knows?

Force Iowa to make the outside shot, rebound, and don't foul.
Do those three things and you have a great chance to beat Iowa.
This team is still no better than .500 in the Big Ten without consistent guard play. If last night's game is on the road we don't get all those calls and lose by 10.
