Over under on combined Jok-Woodbury turnovers is 7.5
Texas is LOADED in the front court. They have a top 5 NBA draft pick as their backup center, and a 275lbs PF. This will be the ultimate test if Wood Berry is the center we all hoped he could be three years ago.
Luckily, one thing Texas is good at is missing jump shots, so hopefully if our defense can keep them away from the rim, we should be able to avoid half court grind-out offense. If that happens, we have a shot at this game.
Tejas is a 4.5 favorite.

Or, perhaps they will come out cold and we'll eek out a close win and then fuckwit hok fans will think we have a decent basketball team.

Hawks up 10-2 early. Now, they have missed their last 9 shots and are up 17-15.

Texas too worried about being badass tuffys and they're getting schooled. Bad coaching.

Hawks up 6 at half. Not bad with starting guards both going 0 for 5. Bench had 3 points (JO). Iowa 11-13 from FT line.

Well, that didn't take long. Texas on an 8-2 run and we are tied just out of halftime.

A couple of things. Our guard play was awful. Just terrible. They combined to shoot 5-29 from the floor and had only eight assists to five turnovers. Texas length just killed us there. That said Texas is going to do that to a lot of teams this year.
On the positive side Woodbury, White, and Uthoff played well. It was especially nice to see Woodbury play well against a legit NBA body. He outplayed Ridley by a wide margin. Obviously he is really limited athletically, but Woody is really tough. He likes to stick his nose I. There and seems to really thrive on contact.

I looked at the clock with 17:00 left in the first half, and decided we couldn't win this game. Iowa had a good lead, but it was entirely on hustle, and you can't win a game based on hustle with Iowa's shitty depth unless the other team quits. It took me three minutes to fully absorb, despite the fact we were kicking their ass, that Tejas had athletes on the floor the caliber Iowa could only dream to match.
In my game recaps, I was wondering if the offense was a bi-product of players becoming more skilled or outmatched opponents...I think that question was answered. Mike Gessel; One field goal. Anthony Clemmons; One field goal. Johnny Utah; One field goal. Josh Oglesby; One field goal.
On srs hok nation, the narrative, which was total bullshit for the start, is that the offense would be better without Marble "hogging" the ball. Well this is what I said would happen all along! We have a team full of non-shooters who can't get a shot. Outside of White, no one can get to the rack either. WHite shot 16 throws, the rest of the team combined for 12.
One final note, after the under 12 time out with a 4 point lead in the 1st half, Fran sent out the following lineup; Clemmons, Oglesby, Jok, Uhl, Olesani. I was thinking, if this is our second line, we're fucked. If Fran wants to play a pace where you're basically sprinting back and forth, and we have to play this lineup...yikes. That will be tough to win with against middling BoneG teams liek Purdue and Minnesota, saying nothing of top ranked teams liek Tejas.
Well, off to Ames. Not sure about Wi-Fi reliability there.
