Nah, our min wage is only $5.21. Plus my employees would work for free before they let me shut down. They like me too much.

Uh, how many restaurants close in Seattle in any given year? Look, I have no doubt that this thing is gonna hurt some businesses, particularly franchises that get handed an edict on pricing from some remote corporate headquarters, but the listed restaurant closings is by no means dispositive that this is going to crush businesses. A town the size of Seattle prolly loses a slew of restaurants in the ordinary course of business during any given month anyway, so I will need to see more before finding a causal link.

Full time at 15bucks is 31200 before taxes. That ain't shit Yeah, it ain't shit, but when you add employer side payroll taxes, unemployment insurance, work comp premiums and depending on the size of the company, health care benefits, it's a fuck of a lot more than a lot of menial labor is worth.

What is a place that proles would eat if they had money? I would invest in that restaurant. Meebe Olive Garden? At $7.50/hour, that's a birthday only dinner, but at $15/hour, that's every Friday, with a doggie bag for breadsticks.

I actually empathize with the business owners.
Still... There's a societal problem when people can work full time and still live in poverty and require guvmint support to survive.
The droids comment wasn't sarcasm btw

The droids comment wasn't sarcasm btw You could ask any of my employees and they'd say they wouldn't want a $15 min wage. They make more than that with what they have now. Plenty more. The risk of losing their job and also making less money doesn't excite them. Nor should it.
