Has anyone gone through radon mitigation?
I tested with a Menard's kit over a 48 hour period....results came back @ 6.3 pCi/L, testing in the basement, about 4 feet off the floor.
"Normal" levels to be below are 4. I'm re-testing as we speak.
Any input would be appreciated.
(And, nope, solar doesn't do a darn thing about radon!)

The previous owners of the house we bought just put in a radon mitigation system prior to closing and we honestly wouldn't have even checked it either. Apparently the house was under contract prior to our offer and the buyers backed out when the radon numbers came back high. I have no idea what the numbers were, but those people were dumb as hell, or were looking for a way to get out of the contract as they may have found another house they liked.
Basically, it's attached to the hole for the sump pump, that gets sealed up nice and tight, and then is vented out of the house above the roof line.

Yes, my prior home had a mitigation system because I had a gym in my basement. The shit is fucking dangerous. It's really dangerous if you smoke and have particulates in your lungs.
It cost about a grand. A worthy investment. My current abode has a basement level garage so radon concentration isn't an issue

Like many things, Radon mitigation is a God damn scam. If the levels of uranium in your local soil were high enough to decay into dangerous levels of radon, someone would be knocking on your door looking to buy the mining rights. The alarmist news media drummed this up and created an entire cottage industry of testing and mitigation.

What's a 6.3 level as compared to 4? 2.3 really makes a difference? I spend like maybe 45 minutes in the basement per day anyway....dunno....I'm running a 2nd level now.

Radon is measured like big black dicks. Would you rather have a 6.3 inch cock plowing your chocolate starfish and giving you ass cancer, or a 4" asian dong? Would that 2.3" really make a difference? Only your ass will know for sure.

The house I had in Indiana had a radon removal system installed when it was built. When I went to sell it, the moron who was buying it (a woman doctor btw) saw the system and freaked out. She tried to get out of the deal saying I had not disclosed the fact that the house had dangerous levels of radon. I explained that there was nothing to disclose since the system was operational and that she was welcome to test it. She did have it tested, yet she could not interpret the results. The level was 10% of the accepted limit which she took to mean was 10 times the limit. She then wanted to know what the levels where before the system was installed. I explained that there was no way to determine that since the system had been installed as the home was built. How this dullard made it through college, let alone med school is a sad indictment of our higher education system.

Going to cost us $1,700 to remediate what I agree with Sioux is a BFS, Big Fucking Scam. Readings came back 5.3, 1.3 above statist anti-capitalism environment nazi level of 4.0. Cap dry sump pit; cover french drains encircling the basement; drill hole in basement floor; install pipe and blower to pump air out of the soil. Hope the new owners liek 3-inch PVC pipe running up the side of their two-story house. Ooooooops. Hope that house in sun city is low maintenance.
