Oh...hey Thunder...what's for dinner at your house. I'm in Des Moines... You should have asked me. Mywife does not believe that you exist ITRW. Good lord... Why is that? I went to HyVee and got a tombstone pizza,(actually 3 for $10). I was only going to cook one. I'll leave it at my moms as then she'll have something to feed the rest of the leaches...I mean family...next time they're over. BOTH of my parents are in the hospital right now. I think my sister is coming over and we'll either go to Francies or Thunders second favorite breakfast place, Perkins.

Jesus, the relative lack of price inflation in (a) shitty frozen pizzas and (b) those frozen microwaveable burritos just fucking terrifies me. What can possibly be in those that is immune to the general increase in the price level over time?

Francie's is a good Hawkeye pub and grub. Good place to watch a game, cuz doesn't get overrun by drunks too bad. Oh and no boiled wings!

They say he was blue when he got to the ER and they wanted to intubate him and put him on a vent but he refused. He said no one told him until later that he was in respiratory failure and "that" close to death. Somehow he has bounced back and by the time I got here, instead of ICU he was in a regular room and ordering food for a late lunch. The respiratory therapist that saw him in the morning AND the afternoon couldn't believe he was stil alive. He doesn't do well without my mom. At least they are in the same hospital. Parents...

I hear there is this place North of Des Moines called Hickory Garden that's really good.
And thoughts and prayers towards your folx Ging. And recently, I've gotten into the mindset where I actually think and pray, instead of just saying thoughts and prayers. I doubt it will help, but it couldn't possibly hurt right?
Hope you still make the game on Saturday.

I might go look for a new Iowa shirt today...probably easy to scrounge one up at HyVee or Kohls....

I doubt it will help, but it couldn't possibly hurt right? Unfortunately, Ghost, it could. Satan could be out there intercepting thoughts and prayers and figuring out whom to troll based on messages being sent to God. Case in point, couple hundred thousand people sitting outside in Florida in February of 2001. Del gets sideways, immediate collective gasp of "Oh mah gawd, noooo" and bam, Satan decides to give Senior a basal skull fracture. We are just werqing with an imperfect understanding of these sorts of issues, so no one can really give you the answer you are looking for. Sorry.

Basically that's it...that and he couldn't breathe. You know I never realized how helpless my dad was in that respect. He can build cabinets, add on a bedroom, or change an alternator in a car, and engineer a new piece of equipment at work, but if he has to take care of himself, he is unable or unwilling to do it. He might be able to pour himself a bowl of cereal but that's about it. He can't cook for himself. I found this out earlier this year taking my mom to Iowa city for a bunch of appointments all day. She was in a big rush to get home because she said my dad would starve before he would cook for himself. I think she made him a sandwich when she got home.

I bet L'Eagle Grill could whip him up a sammich.
Just keep him away from the claw machine.

She was in a big rush to get home because she said my dad would starve before he would cook for himself. I think she made him a sandwich when she got home. My Dad was the youngest of eight children, six of whom were girls. His father was a bricklayer and away from home on jobs quite a bit so Dad got doted on by his mother and the girls. Like yours, he can do a lot of things but two he can't or won't are laundry and cooking other than to grill burgers and steaks or scramble eggs. Once when Mom came home from the hospital and was still in a lot of pain he was expecting her to cook dinner that night. He finally went and got Hardees. We've encouraged him to do a little more when we're not there but at 91 that's probably not going to happen. What did he get from Hardee's? Frisco Burger? Monster Burger? Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger? Roast beef? Ham n cheese? Was this back when Hardee's had fried chicken? What does he think of their biscuits n gravy?
