You think nurses are making what McNutt has made after 2 1/2 seasons on an NFL roster and then falling into a cushy sales position? Even in a job as high demand as nursing, any UI grad heading up to Crapids still isn't making moar than $60k to start. I know a guy who recently graduated med school from UI, and he's making about $50k in residency. No way in hell UI law grads are making 6 figures five years out.And that says nothing to the astronomical debt all of these people have that McNutt nevar has to worry about. Don't get me wrong, I have stated above why being a salesman in Crapids has to be a living hell for big #7, but financially, he's miles ahead of the rest of the class of 2011. Shirley you're not sirius. He mentors 12 year olds, not adults. He has no clue.

90%, including med degrees? Do you lump in nursing, pharmacy, bioengineering, etc? I don't count women since they typically quit the fulltime workforce about 5 years after college to rasie the ruggers. No Ghost, no...he's certainly not doing better than 90% of the above mentioned folks. The only way he's doing better than even the last-place med student is if said med student is still in residency. Pharmacists are kicking his ass fo sho. Pharm.D. is horribly glutted. The old guys are maybe doing okay, but the pharmacist bubble is quickly approaching lawyer bubble levels. If you want to work at Walgreen's in Kearney, NE (weekend shifts to start) for $13 an hour, Pharm. D. is the ticket.

That's prolly true, but historically they've started out at a pretty decent per annum...although it plateaus right away. Remind me not to stop at the Walgreens in Kearney... Still, you'd think with all of these baby boomers hoovering about ten pills each per diem, that there's gotta be future growth in dispensing that shit.

Yeah, there is growth, but there is a surplus of labor that is driving wages down. The growth will be captured by CVS, Walgreens and that handful of enormous mail order pharmacies - the profit will flow to the big gatekeepers, not the laborers.

Shirley you're not sirius. www.nalp.org/starting_salaries_class_of_2011Starting salaries for new lawyers vary tremendously. The median salary for Class of 2011 graduates with a full-time job lasting at least a year and reporting a salary was $60,000; the mean, or average salary was about $78,600.
Most jobs paid neither the median amount of $60,000 nor $160,000. Although salaries of more than $75,000 accounted for 34% of salaries reported, they were considerably outnumbered by salaries of $55,000 or less which accounted for 41% of salaries reported. Outside of private practice, most salaries were $75,000 or less. Not to mention the $150-200K in debt.

In case you guys the missed the point....he shouldn't have to be selling cars with a college degree and his pedigree @ Iowa. He got his job based on his name...now, he'll have to keep it, in part to performance, but he got his job based upon his name. The value of the degree is zero...in fact, less than zero. That is all. Yeah, he got a shitty degree from UI because he wanted to take the easy route whilst playing the football. But he earned the name recognition so there apparently is some value in that. He's working for a living. I can think of more than a few college students who are still with mom and dad at home 2 years after their degree because their ambition ends with a job at Denny's. cut the guy a break, he ain't pulling welfare.

Ok, fair enough. Still, I said that Marv is foing better than 90% of the people he graduated with. Your link says Iowa has less than 400 law students right now. So what, maybe 130 of them graduate in a year, and let's say 70 of those are making 6 figures in 5 years. I looked it up, and about 5,000 students graduate from Iowa in a given year, so those high earning law students are 0.014% of the total class. so yeah, I'd say #7 is well ahead of many of his classmates.
