By the way that farmer that was giving Grassley the business has no fucking idea what the hell he is talking about. Just FYI. Farmers are dumb fucks Yet that "GOTCHA" tweet has over 3600 retweets and has been favored almost 6K times. I would expect "the senior news editor and writer at NBC Nightly News would be above posting some "dumb fuck farmer" yelling at his senator but I guess that does qualify as news these days even though the farmer has no clue what the fuck he is saying.

Brad Zahn....pffft. Pretty sure he went to Dowling Catholic High school and was a year ahead of me and graduated in 1980. He was in one of my classes but I can't remember which one and my overall memory of him was that he was a douche; but that's coming from an introverted wallflower so who knows. Looking at that picture I guess that's him...he was a short dude if I recall. Can't be a many guys named Brad Zahn, right? He made me think of Gary Busey. Big teeth. He probably can't afford to send his (grand) kids to Dowling now so a charter school using public money might be up his alley. Thunder, what's a years worth of Dowling Tuition cost now a days? When I was there it was $450 my freshman year and by my senior year it was $850. I've head current tuition is more than a semester at Iowa...

Anybody want to do that math and see what that is in 1980 $$? My elitist bro in STL pays about 30K per for each kid in Catholic high school. That's just fucking robbery, considering that rich prick bro graduated from a rural public high school. I do believe that one year of Cathlick high school in Le STL costs more in tuition than my entire seven years of undergrad and law school.

I can't read this link, but if they close Durant High School, those kids will probably have to go all the way to Davenport West where they will be educated with black kids. I imagine the community would not care much for that.

I imagine the community would not care much for that. Why couldn't they just merge with Wilton or another small school district nearby? And although I think it's a horrible bill/law, what will happen to specific school districts as a result are TBD. So anything at this point would be fear mongering.

I don't know how much time you spend in rural Iowa, but I spend quite a bit of time there... and rural Iowa is FUCKED. Unless weed is legalized, in which case small plots of land could become incredibly profitable. Yes, what I'm suggesting is that rural Iowa trade meth and hillbilly heroin for sweet, glorious weed. It's actually a spectacular idea. Stupid fucking prudes have no vision, though, so rural Iowa will continue to decline into the meth-addled oblivion for which it's destined. BECAUSE VALUES.

Durant is already partially merged with the Bennett school district. I have no inside knowledge, but if I had to guess, if they closed Durant, Wilton (the next town west) couldn't absorb all of those students, but Walcott (the next town east) could. Walcott is in the Davenport school system, and I know for a fact Walcott school and Davenport West have declining enrollment.
