My wife's health insurance company will give us a $300 price break if we participate in a wellness program. Essentially we answer a bunch of questions about our lifestyle and let them draw blood to run blood sugar, lipids, etc. The problem is so many diseases today are genetic, breast cancer, parkinsons, etc. Given the current instability regarding health ins laws whats to stop them from denying coverage based on these things in the future?

Frankly, $300 is a generous offer. Like Henrietta Lacks, the medical community / insurance industry - likely own the rights to your DNA due to a document or 4 you signed over time.
Might as well get the pay & hope to fuck the GOP can never take away pre-existing conditions, else you will need lots of jars on convenience store counters to pay for your next z-pack.

Is it 300 break on the monthly premium, or just the yearly total or some shit? 50 per month. Breast cancer runs in my family.

In short...nothing. Our company did that for a few years a few years ago when the affordable healthcare act was in its prime. I believe this process is actually something suggested by Obama care. I don’t get insurance from where I work but they were pretty much pushing this and staff would get a discount on their insurance if they participated. If their cholesterol was high for example they would offer another discount if you participated in a educational program (diet and life style education) to lower cholesterol. They also tested for drugs and nicotine use. I don’t believe they were testing DNA and it doesn’t sound like they are doing that in your case either, but who the hell knows what they do with it once they have their blood. Supposedly all of your medical information is kept from your employer but I don’t buy that for one second. They know who is using their insurance the most. I think your concern is valid frankly. I really wish we’d get away from employer health insurance.

I think the company that sells fertilizers branded as Scotts has a blood draw requirement FOR ALL EMPLOYEES and they won't employ people with nicotine. I think shit where you company is small and they collaborate for health screenings with the hospital is fine, but if you work for a big self-employed company and the insurer is coming through testing, fuck that. Plus, you can "de-identify" data or some shit, but I guarantee you they have some wormish fucking way of getting around HIPAA and if your name shows up on a list of people likely to have a 6 figure issue, your ass is toast.

Yeah...we've got that same thing with my wife's jerb. I participate because my numbers are good. If they weren't I wouldn't. If it tested for cannabis I sure in the fuck wouldn't. The doobage is always way out of my system when I get annual tests. If I'd been bonging hard I'd prolly skip the bloodwork and forfeit the money.
Employer based insurance is in fact a terrible system. On the Avoid Doing Stupid Shit list, that one's right up at the top. There's almost no upside to it for anyone; not for employers, not for employees, not for society.
Don't Do Stupid Shit. It's the most important rule in life.
And remember: If you suspect that the Executive Suite is out to fuck you over so they can PROFIT!!! just a wee bit more, trust your instincts. They are.
