I saw Mean Gene in person a few times back in the 80s. His kid was playing hockey for the gophers and he would follow the team to UND.

He's got so much Corelle shit in that cupboard, too. My old lady would murder for that stuff. We still have the bowl set my mom and dad got for wedding gifts in 1976 and Ma wants to buy some updated stuff, but she said the new ones don't feel as sturdy. Hell, my son will prolly still be using that stuff in 30 years. We had this slab marble countertop installed in my place in Evanston and Ma broke the fucking counter with one of the bowls.

Corelle is tough but when that shit breaks there are shards everywhere. It’s like an explosion. Very tiny shards too. Glass under tension. I’ve always had corelle mostly because it’s relatively cheap to get a basic set of dishes. I like it because it usually doesn’t scratch much or chip. (It just breaks.)I also like it because it’s very lightweight. I don’t like stoneware because it’s heavy and chips a lot. I’ve been trying to talk my mom into getting rid of that shit yellow Fiestaware and getting some type of corelle because she’s getting weaker as she gets older. The problem with corelle is the designs basically suck any more. It only comes in white or kind of a tan color and the designs they laminate on them anymore are pretty lame. I think if they could make corelle in solid colors other than those two and market that shit for older folks that can’t carry heavy dishes they’d have a run on their dishes. I’ve never had a set of completely matching dishes and right now I have at least 3 different corelle patterns of assorted plates bowls and cups, due to breakage, along with several other non corelle dishes. There’s a nice set at Costco of Mikasa bone china that is only white but at least has an interesting patterned edge. 36 pieces for $99; service for 6. I’m terrible about making a decision about it because I can just have mismatched stuff and save money and still have plates to eat off...or just go with Great Value paper plates. I’ll wait too long to decide and then they won’t be there anymore. Those cupboards in the video are classic as well. I think I had more than one house and apartment with that crap. Slightly above that now with “builders oak”.

I fink RBG breathing is the only fing keeping teh dems from starting proceedings against President Dipshit. They are saving that shit to argue a President being impeached can't nominate a supreme, and by the tine that fails it will be an election year and well, you know.

Usually the hip break is a result of your body just being done. Ma has worked in two nursing homes and she said it was actually pretty common for old people to break a hip without a fall and that pretty much every time that shit went down the person was dead shortly thereafter.

Ma has worked in two nursing homes and she said it was actually pretty common for old people to break a hip without a fall and that pretty much every time that shit went down the person was dead shortly thereafter. I would agree with that for most part. My husbands family seems to be tougher than average. His dad’s brother broke his hip in his mid eighties. I thought that was the end. But he fought back and actually went back home. Finally took his car keys away though. Probably died about 5 years later. Less than a years after he was sent to a nursing home. That’s usually a killer for old people right there. My husbands mother broke her hip on the ice in her driveway when she was 82. She was lucky she had her cell with her and call for help. Otherwise she would have froze. She had to have a plate and a rod put down her femur. She had been planning to have back surgery so that delayed it. She had a lumbar fusion about 10 weeks later. About a year after that she finally retired from work. She worked at Methodist (Des Moines) in sugery ( you probably met her if you had a family members had surgery there as she worked in and area that updated families with info) and was on her feet a lot and it was wearing her down. She’s 85 now. Still living at home and druving all over Des Moines.

95 yr old grandma... broke her femur at 88, broke her other femur and pelvis at 92. Blind with macular degeneration for 15 years, can't hear worth a shit w/ out aids, but still wants to be involved in everything at her retirement home.
Humans are resilient as fuck. It is UTIs that kill faster than broken hips.
