Yeah, Portillo's is good. The burgers are flame broiled and are reminiscent of B-Bops back in the '90's. The dogs are legit. My favorite is the loaded chili dog. Chili, fresh onions and grated cheese. And the chocolate cake shake is great. The Italian beef is good, not as good as Al's, but good nonetheless.
Problem you're gonna have is Portillo's is so much better than everything else around that area that the place will be sofaking packed you won't be able to park and the drive through will back up traffic because the line will be so long.
The old man sold that company for something like $900 million and the fund that bought it has plans to roll it out regionally, so they need to build a lot of them to justify that investment. The question will be whether they can execute as well as the old man could. I'm sure some blow dried MBA is gonna cut corners on either ingredients or labor to try to cut costs and they'll fuck up their investment.

It's right accross the street from the new Costco and near the intersection of Target Rd and Walmart Ave. As it is it only takes 10 min to drive 3 pot hole infestes blocks in peak traffic time.

I didn't know they were even building a Portillo's until yesterday, when I braved 53rd St to go to Staples. They had it down to one lane because of the construction equipment at Portillo's. I decided then that I was never going to go there, because it will be a catastrophic clusterfuck.

Hell, the Portillo's I've been to in Chicago were always fairly packed from 3pm until 9ish every night. The dogs are legit. I like the Italian Beef's personally.

I mainly went to the one on Ohio Street downtown or the one in Skokie. They were both totes fucking slammed between noon and two and 3:30 until 9 on weekends or 5:30 to 9 on weekdays. If I went for dinner (noon meal for you city folk) I'd go there around 11:40 and it was fine, but by noon it was jammed. They keep the lines moving relatively well because they staff it heavy, but that is totally something I could see private equity fucking up and thinking they can make more money with "lean staffing."
