I believe the Patriot missile system has proven to be effective against Russia’s hypersonic Kinzhal missile.

Is behind a firewall, but I was able to read the headline. The hypersonic missiles Russia has have been shot down, so much that Putin had the scientist/general(?) that developed them jailed a few months ago.

They’re just getting slaughtered and they’re too stupid to adapt Insane And/or the people in charge don’t give a fuck about their lives. That being said you would think they’d care about the material losses. Russia’s losses in armor alone are staggering.

In case you don’t see it all. Not that anyone here subscribes to Forbes…
Russian businessman Magomed Musayev, known for his ownership of the Russian-language versions of Forbes and Harvard Business Review magazines, as well as his ties to the Kremlin, has become the owner of the American Forbes magazine, one of the most influential and well-known economic publications in the world. Information about this was reported by The Washington Post, citing audio and video recordings in which Musayev informs his partners about the acquisition of the company. In one of the recordings, he calls the acquisition a chance to strengthen his and Russia's "international prestige."
Forbes is officially owned by 28-year-old American billionaire Austin Russell. Axios reported in May, citing anonymous sources, that Magomed Musayev had engaged Russell in the process of acquiring Forbes, but at the time Musayev was not mentioned as an investor or buyer of the media group.
In August, two Republican senators sent a letter to the head of the U.S. Treasury Department and the Committee on Foreign Investment calling for a review of the Russell deal, claiming that he was "masquerading as a lead buyer." The senators pointed out that much of the money to buy Forbes comes from investors with international ties, including ties to the Kremlin.
Magomed Musayev himself claims that he did not coordinate this deal with Russian officials. Nevertheless, according to some sources, his successful career has much to do with the influential connections of his father-in-law, the former head of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulatipov.
One of the senators pointed out that it is not in the U.S. interest for major U.S. media outlets to be run by organizations with ties to countries such as Russia.

One of the senators pointed out that it is not in the U.S. interest for major U.S. media outlets to be run by organizations with ties to countries such as Russia. Legacy media is completely dead and is an industry that has no economic upside. The only upside is that schools hammered "credible source" into everyone's head for decades and these legacy media businesses have plenty of simpletons who will believe they are credible based on historical goodwill and brand recognition. That legacy goodwill and trust then allows them to use media assets to drive society in a beneficial manner for the owner of the media asset. Chomsky explained this in the '80's. Like take the Washington Post which is cited in your post. Owned by Bezos. When something like The Germ breaks out and causes a 100% spike in sales for Bezos's main business can you really trust the Washington Post to credibly ask fundamental questions like "should we really believe the WHO IFR model based off of Chinese data?"

Y’all are lucky.
If I were POTUS we’d be actively involved in at least two wars, and Iran would be days away from getting bombed into oblivion.
Because sometimes war is the answer, especially when you’re not tied down by nation building

The last time the Russians attacked Finland in the fabled Winter War it didn't go so well for them. The Soviets got some territory but suffered horrendous losses at the hands of the tiny Finnish army. In fact, the result enticed Hitler to unleash Operation Barbarossa and attack the Soviet Union. Finland would absolutely rout Russia this time. Just fucking slaughter the entire lot of them.

While it is tremendous news, it isn't air superiority in the normal sense of having fighters providing air cover. The F-16s speak with the Patriot & other NATO air defense systems to create a deep over the horizon threat. Russians have been launching glide bombs/cruise missiles from 20-30km behind the lines and running away. When they tried this the other day, 3 were shot down. No word on if just the Patriot batteries or the F-16/Patriot combos already in use, but having the F-16s in the air makes the system a gigantic friggin antenna to detect Russians 60-100km behind the lines... or basically the entirety of Ukraine they control and into Russia itself. Russia's only method of randomly throwing missiles at Ukraine has gone away. With that threat removed, they can move up all their ATACMS & other artillery closer to the lines to strike troops & equipment further behind the current lines. Given recent reports though, all that really does is provide Ukraine possibilities to hit more concentrated troop musters with single clusters vs. doing so to the thousand+/day with bullets/Bradleys/artillery.

I enjoy the works of noted leftist conspiracy theorist Noam Chomsky. The man was an MIT linguist who wrote treatises about his opinions on CIA operations overseas. I am glad that I read so many of Chomsky's works and get to see the playbook in action right here in my home country. I just wish we had a system whereby a person didn't need to be a billionaire or lifetime political operative to rise to senior levels of politics. It's not going to end well.
