We could be pretty good if we can overcome the couple of question marks. I'm glad they are moving Ballard inside, he will be a beast at tackle.

I started watching it on the DVR while eating breakfast this morning. The DVR said the program was 2 and a half hours long, is that true?

hour and a half.
I have to agree we can be good but I don't like the RB by committee if Hampton is out.

Why do we have to be douches?

Who are the starting wide outs this year?
DJK and Stross?
Are Keenan Davis and McNutt our 3rd and 4th receivers?

Stross and McNutt have been listed as the starters. DJK is in the doghouse or something. I think if O'Keefe had 3/8ths of a brain, he would at least have a gameplan to have Moeaki, DJK, Stross and Davis on the field at the same time. Davis is gonna be a stud.

Seriously, what the fuck is Keefe's problem? DJK always seems to be in the doghouse, yet he is by far the most talented receiver (I haven't seen Davis/McNutt in a game situation so that could change). This only strengthens my disdain for Keefe.

Dude, Keefe often misses on the most talented players because of his dog house and infatuation with playing older guys. Remember the second half of the Pitt game last year when Stanzi pissed off Keefe? Remember Shonn Greene rode the fucking bench behind Albert Young and Damian Sims (granted he had some fumble-itis)? I just hope in my heart of hearts that Paki O'Meara doesn't see the fucking field other than on special teams this season.

Robinson and Brinson will get touches as well, but I really think Paki starts at our #1 if Hampton is out.

Mark my words, if Paki gets any substantial PT other than in a mop up role, this is at best a 6 or 7 win ball club.

Nothing against Brownlee - he's seems like a great guy. But not the most gifted dude in the world. I still think we get to 9 wins.

We won 10 with the Bowl game with Brownlee playing. The difference was that Brownlee was bad enough that even Keefe wasn't dumb enough to run more than a handful of times a game and had Tate going shotgun all the time. He actually adjusted the offense after Jermelle and everyone else went down. If he has Paki starting, he'll try to run his standard offense, which will be devastating for our record.

Our line wasn't to good in '04. Even our pass protection - most of the routes will short yardage quick hitters, and Tate still had to do his "Tater Roll" to get passes off. This year, our line should be among the best in the country.

Fuck me. 4-8 here we come. Keefe fucked with Stanzi's mechanics. No RB. No one will step in for Mitch King. Team's getting a little bit of national love and Ferentz is probably doing nothing to cool their heads. We're fucking doomed.

I wouldn't say we are doomed but I sure as hell didn't expect Paki to be listed as our #1 RB. I'm still feeling pretty optimistic about our chances of winning at least 8 games. Who really knows at this point but I'm definately ready to find out. I also think that after next weeks game we should know if we will probably suck much easier than knowing if we are the real deal.

Step away from the cliff BTR...Brinson may be our starter a few games in. Per ESPN: "Making matters worse, redshirt freshman running back Jeff Brinson missed "a significant amount" of camp with an ankle injury. Brinson is back on the practice field with the Hawkeyes but needs to catch up a lot to play in eight days." sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4429403

Well, bince none of you guys are actually Hawk fans or have no fucking memories whatsoever, let me remind you of what happened the last TWO times we were allegedly "good." First, we were ranked really high in 2005 and we beat up on Ball State, then went to Ames and got fucking waxed because Ferentz can't get a fucking team ready to play in September. Then, a few weeks later we went to C-bus and it looked Steve fucking Alford was coaching against Northfuckingwestern.
The last time we were "good" was in 2006, we started strong with wins against ISU, Illinois and a piss poor 'Cuse team, but then finished 2 and god damn 6 in the Big Ten. Remember what OSU did to us that year? They fucking pantsed us. Made us look fucking silly.
Sure, we had a nice little run at the end of last year, but we are fucking doomed. Doomed. And this is my last fucking year to go to the games cause once Ma squeezes out Junior my balls are gonna be in a fucking vise and fucking Keefe is gonna ruin this fucking season with fucking Paki O'Meara. Fuck.
Wins:
UNI Arkansas State
Losses: Everybody else on our fucking schedule
2 and fucking 10.

I don't think it really matter who starts vs. UNI. My guess would be Paki, Robinson, and Brinson (if healthy) will all get carries, and it wouldn't surprise me if Wegner got a couple either.
I think what really matters is how they perform and who starts the PSU game. For the first few games I think they all get touches and then by the start of Big Ten season they will likely narrow it down to two guys.
I think Hampton is a big loss but not the end of the world, we have the guys to replace him but it would have been nice to see what he could do carrying the load.
I sure don't think he is the difference between a 9 win season and a 6 win season. If the OLine plays the way they are able to we will be just fine.
