Tate's up there on this team. I hate to say anything bad about them because the 'fraud left the team in terrible condition, but there really is not a lot of D-1 talent there. I'm psyched for what we have coming in next year, and we will definitely get a lot better with Lik, but it's gonna be a long couple of years.

I think Tate is the hottest player on the team right now...maybe not the best. I still think Freeman is the most talented player on the team, but Tate is on a monster tear right now.

I'd have to agree that Freeman is the most talented, Tate would be right behind though. He is on a tear.

This team as a whole...has huge holes in their game. Don't single out Tate, he came to play yesterday. He battled, he fought when it was easy throw it in.
Maybe Freeman is the most talented, but has been on a sabatical the last few games. He fires up treys with 15-20 on the shot clock, and I just scream. Granted, he's not a true point guard, but he's supposed to be our leader.
If anyone did watch the Drake -Butler game yesterday, I was so impressed with Butler. That team has a look at a shot, and as the defense collapses, they make one or two extra passes and get WIDE open shots. This is what Lick is trying to instill here, but we either don't have the talent (and this is a Big 10 roster vs a Horizon League team) or these kids haven't bought into it yet. Maybe we are so fundamentally poor, we cannot execute such a system at this time. And that is not a indictment against Lick, its a slam against Nealford.

Cyrus Tate is the player on this team, who is stepping up.
Some of the other guys are disappearing at the wrong time.
If I had to name an MVP, at least for the Big Ten season, CY gets my vote AND I'm damn glad he is back next year.

Illini fans are convinced Iowa is going to be worse next year. I'm pretty sure that's just members of the BWALS hoping the rest of the league will get worse so Illinois can climb all the way up to 7th play in the league, but that's the smack they're running.
