So, if I understand this correctly, instead of just taking the own here, you're going to double down and say that referencing a story about old buildings being refurbished actually proves your point that every building in Davenport is shitty? This is the hill you're going to die on? Making fun of Davenport is really fucking easy, and instead you're going to make it that much harder on yourself? Also Jumers is in Rock Island you fucking peasant. Raise bar. Set bait. Stand back and enjoy. So the one quasi nice building in the QC chooses to locate in Illinois? In Rock Island? Do I have that about right? Made. My point is. JFC. Go mentor some teen girls. Jesus Tweeter, this is embarrassing. Now, despite how you've self-owned yourself into fucking oblivion, want to come back and claim that you were trying to do this the whole time? I almost want to mercy ban you, just because it's hard to watch you struggle like this. A peaceful euthanizing might be the humane thing to do.

Did they wanna fight a bang from KC, but didn't want to drive all the way down there? No, a gang from Omaha. Fuck, I always wondered why Waterloo was such a fucking dump, but now it all makes sense. If they just up and moved the town and all of its residents to where Fort Dodge or Mason City is, the place would probably be the nicest town in Iowa. Pards need your take. I'm in the Dez a week ago at a meeting and a guy finds out I'm from Dodge. So he says he has a theory on FD. Fd has some of the highest gypsum content in the world and he thinks that roughly 15 years of drinking the water it eventually gets into the system. He thinks that alcohol and gypsum is a combustible material. He said he's never met a person from dodge that after 6 beers doesn't want to get into a fight. Pards did you hit the 15 year mark in FD?

He thinks that alcohol and gypsum is a combustible material. He said he's never met a person from dodge that after 6 beers doesn't want to get into a fight. Pards did you hit the 15 year mark in FD? I did not hit 15 in Durty Dodge, but my father and uncle did. Neither had much of a fighting propensity once they got older. But that was once they got older. Irregardless, problem with the theory is that the gypsum mines are to the south and east of Dodge, with a plethora of them down off Bus 20 not far from my old stompin' grounds of Coalville. We had well water out there. Retardation was common, but fighting, not so much. Most of the people were actually rather docile in hindsight. In terms of the Dodge water supply, my understanding is they pull the water from somewhere near or north of the country club, so there ain't any chance for gypsum to leech into the water that way. If there is a contaminant, it is probably that calcium mine that is on the fork of the Neck Moines River - it can't be more than a mile from the water plant. I seem to recall hearing that it is one of the biggest such deposits in the world and the mining operation is right on the river, not to mention the river has to cut right through it as it meanders and changes course. I would surmise that this stuff is not highly studied because my guess is the geological miracles that create those sorts of deposits are so few and far between and most of them are probably in absolutely shitbag places. So the theory that some form of calcium has a negative reaction with some ingredient in Busch Light or Natty Ice is certainly plausible, as the cross effects of those two things have obviously never been studied. Your friend's theory is good, but I think it is off due to the topography of Dodge. Another possible theory is that the emissions from the old Celotex facility are bad, but driving by there in winter, that seems to be primarily steam and my understanding of gypsum is that they just heat it to pull the water out of it and the solid compounds don't gasify at the temps they heat it to for water extraction. But that would be worth looking into as well. However, I think the location of the Celotex plant (not sure if it's still that) is such that the prevailing winds would carry the waste to Webster City and Duncombe far more than Durty Dodge. I spent a lot of time out by Duncombe as a kid and I didn't think it was too bad, but the modern EPA may have a different view on that.

Does dodge pull water from river or wells? I thought it was the river bince they are right on the Neck Moines River, but maybe they pull from a well. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of Dodge can weigh in.

I think the mineral causing issues in Dodge is not Gypsum, but rather a compound known as C10H15N which is prevalent in outlying areas of town around garages with the windows painted black.

The latest surveys indicate that mineral is present all across the state these days, in abundant deposits... I think Trump's admin has really loosened up the tight regs that were squeezing the life out that industry. Woo!
