I think I need to try Pagliai's again...I haven't had it forever. As a kid, we ate there quite a bit as my parents worked in Grinnell. I never remember it being mind blowing or that special. Maybe I just took it for granted, because we ate it a lot...either way I need to try it again and judge.

I've never had Pagliai's either. Where is it located? I have had Falbo's though and that sh*t is not very good. It works in a drunken pinch I guess, but I'd never eat it sober. That's like saying Gumby's pizza is good.

I've never been to the Pag's in Iowa City, but I grew up in Grinnell, so I'm quite familiar with the one there...especially bince I worked there. The one in Grinnell is right downtown on 5th Avenue. There's another one in Johnston, just north of I-80 on Merle Hay Road.
According to the Pagliai's website, there isn't a Pag's in IC anymore...can anyone that's been to IC recently confirm this?
Itheus: I took Pag's for granted as well until I moved away for college to Storm Lake where the best pizza in town was at the local Pizza Hut.
Columbia has a bunch of solid pizza places, but for some reason, at least in my mind, I've yet to have anything that touches Pag's.

I called my dad & it is still open (at least as of last Thursday)... I believe its proper name is A&A Paglai's or something like that. It's across the parking lot from the Hamburg Inn --- at the corner of Bloomington & Church.

Sorry for the mid-afternoon heart attack there SoCal. As I said, I've never been to the IC Pag's...maybe I'll give it a try next time I'm in town.

The Iowa City Pag's was definitely there last week. Whether it was open or not I cannot confirm. I did drive by though and the building remains, and signage was not removed.

The Uno's downtown Chicago (by ESPNZone) is pretty spectacular.

The Uno's downtown Chicago (by ESPNZone) is pretty spectacular. WRONG!!! It's a goddamn tourist trap. On a day that the Cubs don't play, the sidewalk in front of there is the number 1 congregating spot for d-nozzles.

I prefer Lou Malnati's (sp?) though.

We must have went at a pretty unpopular time, as we only waited 10 minutes.

I can't really say, as I do everything in my power to stay away from said intersection. My guess is that said intersection provides a good mix of the whole douche, bag, nozzle, carrying case, etc.

True.
It should be noted, however, that said carrying case is likely a button-bedecked faux-Army surplus number also containing a poorly-written screenplay and a deck of American Spirit Lights.

Just south of the Merle Hay Rd/Johnston Drive Intersection on the west side of the road.

In a perfect world the best pizza is/was Pizza Hut Super Supreme minus the olives and mushrooms. (Plus they were free for several years thanks to a family employee) Otherwise: Leonardo's CR Pagliali's Sam's Godfathers Humble Pie Zoey's sounds great but is a major road trip for me. Papa Murphy's seems to be really bland, sort of tasteless. Totino's has too many parasites per pizza(20/20 or Dateline) I don't remember although I do buy them for my 17 yr. old son. Don't understand the love for Casey's or Happy Joe's. I would prefer an old school sausage Tombstone anytime.

Happy Joe's taco is like crack Okay, it was already agreed, either on this board or the last, that Happy Joe's taco doesn't count. Not to be voted for, endorsed,... whatsoever... The question is, what is left... But if you haven't had it: get yourself a happy joe's taco... otherwise, I will go for a great plains supreme "or everything." Everything aside, when your in the mood for a taco... disregard everything I've said. Or just try their garden variety.... and imagine you're eating their taco. Yes, it's that damn good. PS. I've also developed a taste for their Hawaiian but that's just me.

Godfathers Pizza for chain style restaurants. Happy Joes for visiting back home in CF.
In California, so far Village Pizzaria on Coronado Island. Been there 3 times already and not much desire to try and find another place.

For some reason, if you guys ever find yourself in Columbia, you've got to try Shakespeare's. Pretty solid pie. I really like their sauce...just the right amount of spice, with just a hint of sweetness.
I'll probably upset a bunch of St. Louis people on this one, but I absolutely DESPISE Imo's. It's so awful. Like cardboard with ketchup as a sauce. Ugh. And, if you can tell me what "St. Louis Style Pizza" is, please let me know. If it's anything like Imo's, then I vote for its removal from human memory.

Word. Imo's sucks. All the kids at Wash U. would order that shit, and gobble it down like it was indisputably gobblable. Gateway Gumby's.
Nasty.

Otherwise: Leonardo's CR Don't understand the love for Casey's or Happy Joe's. I would prefer an old school sausage Tombstone anytime. iagirl, I really like Leonardo's. That's a great place to have a pizza. Last time I was there I got a Rueben Pizza. It was damn good, but a little pricey ($20 something for a large). Really good atmosphere with the red puffy vinyl all over the place. Plus one of the waitresses was a total cougar (lol). Casey's pizza rules. I've been eating that stuff since I was a kid. Sometimes the stuff in the case can be a little greasy and gooey. But all in all, for the price I don't think they can be beat. I used to complain that CR area didn't have any Casey's, but they recently bought out all the Handimarts in the area and have installed pizza kitchens in most all of them now. So Casey's pizza is now readily available. A lot of people that have lived here all their lives probably aren't aware of how good the pizza can be. Recently I was in a class and the teacher was going to bring in pizza on the last day. Many of the students wanted Papa John's (which is probably what they eat 3 times a week anyways). I suggested Casey's and a lot of them thought I was joking around. I was serious. But I ended up eating the Papa John's that didn't get delivered the first time around and then we called and they brought it back out... the same pizza.. over an hour late. It was cold and nasty. Unbelieveable. Sorry about the long winded pizza story...
