Prez you may be up on to this did USC give back Illegal pay? My guess is Fuck no. That was the problem. USC didn't get the illegal pay, that coach or whoever he was got it. It is not illegal to buy your kids' way into a private school, but you have to grease the right palm and the cost to buy a room temperature IQ kid into USC is pretty high, probably at least $5 million, maybe double that. These people tried to go the cheap route. Truth. Parental funding of a library wing or athletic complex is the magic elixir that gets common middling (usually white) douchetools into “elite” (lol) institutions and/or competitive post-graduate programs. Bribery posing as philanthropy. Pays off too for the douchetools, as they acquire connections unavailable to those not in the club.

Filed under Funny Cuz True. I know a guy who paid for a wing of a law library in order to get his underachieving kid into the dental school at a private institution. Meh, that's nothing. The University of Illinois has converted like 10% of each class to Chinese nationals because they pay $32k a year in out of state tuition. And then they delude themselves into saying "these are the best and brightest" because they don't understand that (a) entry is based in huge part on how the kids do on the TOEFL exam and (b) the elite Chinese schools are 100 times more difficult to get into than the University of Illinois.

I assume Chinese students who to to Illinois are rich kids who bombed the Gaokao and there parents ship them away to avoid the shame of keeping them around another year.

Same at the UofI. So many Chinese kids driving 100-200k cars around town. Fun side fact one of the most popular purchases with the Chinese students are assault rifles. Less fun fact is that when they return to China they usually just leave them in their apartment for the land lord find.

2020 can get fucking capped now. It's been a shit year due to shitty people not doing simple things like wearing a fucking mask or not voting for fucking fascist Republicans. Come Xmas Eve and I get a call from my brother and he was being rushed to the ED due to a report that his doctor got after he had imaging of his spine. They did a biopsy on Monday and still don't have a full answer yet, but assume he has multiple myeloma. He's 48, has 2 young kids and of course works in a ED too so he knows how fucked this likely is. He most likely has a death sentence due to this and he's really my favorite brother and does so much good out there and his family needs him. Later on Xmas Eve my wife gets a call from her dad and her mom is having a heart attack and was on the way to the ER as well. She's back home and resting now, but didnt see any blockages or the cause of it.
Anyways, 2020 can fuck right off.

Maybe the biopsy will returned better news than expected. My sisters former husband is in the ICU Mercy in Des Moines dying or may have already died by now. We think of kidney and or liver failure. Horrible alcoholic. I assume he doesn’t have covid but don’t really know. Went to to the hospital last night and was unconscious by this morning. They discussed putting him on a vent but his family said no. He’s 55. My sister was getting ready to take my mom to the hospital for a possible bowel obstruction when she got the call about her ex husband and was told to get their kids up to the hospital. Of their 4 kids only one was able to make it and see him briefly in the hospital before they kicked everyone out because of covid restrictions. One lives in Minnesota and the other was at some training in Omaha and because of the snow storm couldn’t make it. The other kid was going to go up but didn’t get there before they kicked everyone out. A lot of disfunction in the family because of the alcoholism so there will be a lot of guilt that they never said goodbye or resolve their issues. Dude used to be a good guy. Hung out as couples at the U of I in the mid 80’s but his life didn’t go well. 2020 really blows

Anyway, I've told this story on here before, but the DMV in Iowa City would not give Ma a driver's license. She tried the test 3 times and each time I got a lecture from the officer or whatever they are chiding me not to take her back until she was actually ready to drive. Once we moved to Chicago, she found some place that charged $200 and let you drive their car on the route 2x right before the driving test and so she rolled with them. Passed with flying colors. My insurer is still dealing with an accident she was deemed at fault for 18 months ago and Ma has no idea why our insurance premiums have gone up so much and wants ME to call the agent to bitch. Uhh, yeah, no. That accident made her a much better driver, though, and I now watch some of her trips on the dash cam I installed and critique her when needed. Her first accident, where she flipped a '93 Ford Escort on Highway 1 outside of Solon, really hurt her confidence and it took over 10 years before she would drive on her own again.

We'll pray for him in our prayer circle at work this afternoon. Our deacon is coming in today because he wants to bring big energy for the last session of 2020 to bid it adios. The circle happens out in the parking lot and everyone wears a mask.

I guess you could just wear a mask on your dick though if the pants thing is a deal breaker.

Did you know their divorce policy before you moved there? Nope. Didn't know about it until I had to watch hours and hours of state specific law videos as a supplement to the bar. Did you know that some king of torts type trial lawyer in the legislature got a special provision put into the SC UCC that creates a statutory warranty claim in product liability cases? In most places you are limited to suing for a design defect or a manufacturing defect but down here you can actually sue under the UCC and get out of the tort defenses. Another quirk of SC law is that if you have a multi member LLC with a perpetual term and one of the members gets pissed off, that member can petition a court for judicial dissolution. Make all of your LLCs have a 99 year term, kiddos.

Make all of your LLCs have a 99 year term, kiddos. You’re in SC? I thought you were in NC. Not sure what the divorce laws are in Minnesota. I think it’s no fault. When we got the paper there was always a big ad in the classifieds for a $99 divorce. I used to frequently open the paper and fold it leaving the ad prominently displayed. I first showed it to my husband when I drove my 1995 mercury sable from southern Indiana in my move to Rochester. He was already living here. I had two kids, two cats and a dog in a car packed to the max and was lucky the front wheels still touched the ground. I drove over 12 hours on Christmas Eve day through a major snowstorm on about 2 hours sleep and arrived in Rochester around midnight to where he was living which was a multi room “guest house”. He had rented an extra room across the hall for the girls to sleep in and we had to sneak in the animals. I was absolutely exhausted and totally enraged that I once again had to do something like this by myself. The next morning after the kids opened their gifts and we sat in the communal living room where others were I picked up the paper and saw that fucking ad. I was so close and I showed it him then. I wonder if it’s still in the paper...

I wonder if it’s still in the paper... No, Ma'am, I'm in SC. I could never hope to afford those low knob houses up in NC. That's a crazy Christmas story. We have spent our past two Christmas mornings around the tree watching the boy open his presents and then taking turns playing Christmas songs on the piano. It's such a joy, but my limitations as a pianist are quite obvious. Thankfully, Ma can hammer the keys pretty well. My mom's dad died on Christmas day when she was little so it always stirs up old trauma, but I think her getting to spend Christmas at our house this year really did her good. She and my dad put the final nail in their marriage Christmas of '95 I think it was. My father bought my mother a fairly large pair of diamond earrings and my mother complained because she thought the mounts were too big and made the diamonds look cheap or something. Complained to the whole family for a day. Next morning my old man let me know he was done and he would be moving out. I was shocked they made it that long.
