MD, I want to get a couple new monitors for a home workstation to replicate my workplace. My employer won’t pay for them but they are getting me a docking station for my laptop so I assume I can then hook up the monitors.Hopefully I can deduct on taxes. My son wants a monitor to play his ps4 on....smaller than the 65”plasma TV he currently uses. So I am hoping I can do double duty with the monitors I get that will also work for him to use if I’m am not using them

Fuck no. They suggested that I carry my two 24” monitors from work back and forth...as needed. Nope.

Great news is that monitors, even those for gaming are pretty cheap. What type of connections for the docking station will they use? HDMI is easy, display port you may have to look a little harder to find the right ones. Usually if a monitor has display port they also have HDMI too.
With costs being what they are I'd look at no smaller than a 27" and probably say go with a 32 monitor. With gaming it will need a good refresh rate and all that fancy shit. I'll look on Amazon and link those here shortly.

Fuck no. They suggested that I carry my two 24” monitors from work back and forth...as needed. Nope. Step 1) Get suggestion to carry monitors back and forth in writing. Step 2) Carry monitors. Step 3) Fall while carrying the monitors (throw the monitors on the ground while falling for good effect). Step 4) Hire an attorney Step 5) Profit!

Looks like it has 2 display port connections so make sure the monitors have that and HDMI for gaming reasons. Those are regular display port and not mini. Although they do sell cables with display port and HDMI on them so that's not too big of a deal. It's all digital.

I was looking at those Sceptre monitors earlier today. I haven’t heard of that brand.

So I ended up buying a 31” gaming monitor. It’s pretty nice. Also the guy I work with had an extra 24” lying around and he gave that to me. So finally got that shit set up and working and worked from home yesterday. I don’t have an office chair yet so I ended up sitting on a folding chair with a large pillow on it. This was in my basements (finished) and it was cold. I had to lock the dog in his kennel because he was being annoying and then during a conference call my cats starting fighting each other. By the end of the day I was a cripple from sitting in that chair so today I came to work.

Now I’m told by IT that I need to “shut my PC down now!” because it’s doing something funny and communicating to the outside somehow I guess. They don’t know when they’ll be in to do diagnostics. Guess I should go home

They said another PC was having the same problem. Fucking Russians.
