As to FDR, how do you think I feel about anyone or anything that would subvert the SCOTUS.
I'm just pointing the inconsistency of the previous argument with regards to religious rhetoric. How is a solemn speech about an invasion given to the nation... where the speech giver knew he was sending thousands (and by pre-invasion forecasts many tens of thousands) of soldiers under his command - to their deaths*** ---- in any way similar to the cavalier attitude and comments by a then governor speaking in front of teens at a MegaChurch Jesus Camp? Does the fact we both converse in English mean we are both (simultaneously) Shakespeare and John Simon Ritchie? ***This completely disregards the cavalier attitude of this administration & other Republicans to the deaths in Iraq to many more soldiers than died on D-Day. How do statements like "Bring 'em On" and "Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran..." fit into your algorithm when determining the real world repercussions vs. your hypothesis on strict adherence to the constitution? Seriously. I'd like to understand how someone could justify forsaking almost every other American tenet, and rationalize how a fractional difference in an action he views as unconstitutional (giving to the people vs. giving to the corporations) merits supporting the candidate(s) that are proven to be against those American tenets & will be equally - if not more - "unconstitutional" in the end.

You're correct, she was picked for tactical reasons. Most, if not all VP candidates, are chosen for tactical reasons. Biden was selected to give foreign policy credibility to Obama and to shore up white, working class voters in swing states(who Obama did poorly with in the primary). It is the Obama campaign's and the media's fault that were talking about the personal stuff. They don't have much policy dirt to dig up so they use personal stuff or nothingness like the "God's task" comment or her membership with the AIP(proven false of course). Which Bush Doctrine was Gibson refering to in his question? There's more than one.

I could care less if we call this a holy war. If God does exist, I sure as hell hope he's throwing lightning bolts and excessively smiting(not on the wasteland of course) our enemies. I could post many quotes from politicians throughout our history asking The Big Guy to bless our troops/mission. This includes the other VP candidate who has recently asked God to protect our troops. Are you outraged at this as well? To be honest, I don't think Palin is qualified but I don't give a shit because, like HawkStock, I'll be caravaning Republican voters to the booth on election day because of the horrible alternative. This whole Palin thing is just one great distraction after another. Her kids, her pregnant daughter, her ex's husband getting fired, her blessing the troops, her femaleness, blah blah. Who the hell cares? She is simply a distraction, and she's not running for president. McCain is. She is a tactic, not a VP. If there was ever any chance at having a national dialogue about substantive issues, it went completely out the window with the hockeymom pageant honey being nominated out of nowhere. This is all we'll be talking about now. Personal shit. I'd like to vote for no one, but I'm not comfortable with the Bush doctrine, and even less comfortable voting for a nobody who doesn't even know what it is! The Palin thing is NOT a distraction, though. Trust me, I hate polotics, I think they are slimeball dickless snails. However, to say that this is a distraction is ludicrious. If I were a Nazi in power, and I governed by Nazi believes (my backbone relief), you'd proably have a problem with as you should. This lady has basically stated that the war in the Middle East is a holy war. Yes, she is only the VP, but let's be honest: JM is not young, and there's a small chance that Palin could become our leader. Do I want her to consult the Bible for her decisions? This goes beyond personal issues. Sometimes personal issues can bleed over to political beliefs.
