socks or underwear to determine whether they are clean and/or still wearable?
I have not, I just want to determine my level of hygienic superiority over all of you. If I have any doubt, I put them right in the hamper.

Hell yes I have, but only when I "think" they are clean. I do my own laundry though.

Oh hell yes I have, there have been many times that I've ran out of clean clothes and had to put an extra day in on the underwear. No biggie.

Yes I have at times given it the whiff test. I usually wear my clothes for an extra day if it's on the weekends and have no plans. If I lessen the laundry load then the wife complains less about having to do it. In my own way I am keeping the peace in the family.

Never have, never will. I'm kinda like Spank and his towels, one and done. I will do laundry before I run out.

Never. When in doubt, it goes in the hamper. My wife doesn't work, so it's not too much to ask that she keeps up with the laundry.

yes, i have smelled undies that i "believe" to be clean but want to make sure before i commit to spending the next 8 to 24 hours in them.
I also reuse towels 3/5 times before switching to the next one.

Nope...one and done for socks and underwear. Jeans and shirts are another story...

Wait a minute. Did I miss something? I don't smell them to see if they are too dirty to wear again. I've got a 2 month supply of boxers easily, so I never have to wear dirty ones. I've only smelled to determine if they had been worn or not. If they don't smell like clean laundry, they go with the dirty shit, otherwise they go in the drawer with the rest of the clean drawers.

Dug,
Let's assume you wear one pair of boxers per day (I myself go through two pairs per day), that means you have over 60 pairs of boxers in your rotation. Really?

Now that I'm married, I never get a chance to.
The maid wife has them washed so fast I never get beyond selecting from the two folded pair she sets on my dresser - waiting for me to put them away.
Once in a while I'll get the hint she really wants me to actually move my folded clothes into the drawers... only after that does the lineup change.
As an added bonus, this rotation thing also makes it easy for me to know when she's thrown away a pair with a hole - as the top of the dresser inventory contains only one pair of undies & 2 of everything else.

Dug, Let's assume you wear one pair of boxers per day (I myself go through two pairs per day), that means you have over 60 pairs of boxers in your rotation. Really? Definitely close, I've got a whole half drawer that is crammed full, they don't all fit.
