Am I the only one who thinks the whole notion of bulletin board material in sports is an incredibly ricockulous idea?
Little background-i was reading an article bout how some Stanford O-lineman badmouthed notre lame and now some of the golden give domers are saying oh yeah that adds some incentive now etc. . . Weis even said something like it (the comments) got individulized treatment.
If you need some comments from the opposing team to get ready for a game then you probably shouldn't be on schorlarship anywhere. The next step in the logic is that without those comments you couldn't get amped up for the game. And that somehow those comments may fuel you just enough to make that one play to win. Whatever, when was the last time after a game did you hear a player say-"well, we won and it was because the whole game we were focused on Player X's comments."
Lame. Lame. Lame.

Spoken like a non-athlete who never really ever suited up. Stick to your thoughts about your favorite losers - the Cubs - and leave football out of it!

Well, well, well-if it isn't ol man glory days himself. Maybe you can explain how your team-the Reds-are winners then (assuming you can get off your knees after supping at the altar of Crusty Baker) 'splain all bout that one time in high school when you so scored 4 touchdowns in a single game for Polk High and it was all because the linebacker on the other team said your team sucked. So why don't you stick to what you know-the regulars at The Blue Oyster Bar & leave the intelligent discussion bout all other things to the rest of us.

I've brought this up many times. "Bulletin board material" is the most ridiculous notion ever.

I hate to be on the other side of an issue with Barber because I could listen to Barber/BTR stories all night but...I have suited up for many a game, hs and college(not major college) and I never needed any quotes from opposing players or coaches to get me jacked up to play. I think bulletin board material is more of a myth than reality.
