www.dailykos.com/story/2008/11/5/05128/3731/318/653631Nader is saying that Obama has a choice like all politicians do. Could he have used a phrase other than "Uncle Tom", certainly? But his overall point is valid. Obama needs to stand behind the ideals of his campaign and not be a corporate bitch.

But his overall point is valid. President Obama needs to stand behind the ideals of his campaign and not be a corporate bitch. I recall something about carbon caps and statements about bankrupting any new coal fired power plants. I appreciate the environmentalists' perspectives on issues like those, however, a mechanism like that serves the purpose of protecting the existing industries and foreclosing competition. Not to mention they substantially jack up the profits of existing corporations that own the carbon emission permits and the cost of electricity for the poor people who are supposed to be protected. Who do you think will get a bigger benefit from a carbon cap and trade system, Joe Prole, who will see his electricity bill go up (and 1 ppm fewer of CO2 in the air) or the owner of MidAmerican, Warren Buffett? If you want really, really hard left change and not protectionism for the rich, those who have all the wealth and virtually no income, those who truly control the means of production, find another guy like Huey Long that has no billionaires campaigning on his behalf. That guy was talking change and he scared the hell out of capitalists. I think Obama will turn out to be just another liberal fascist puppet, cut from damn near the same cloth as Dubya. Although there is hope that he is not. He did vote against what I think was the most repugnant piece of business legislation in the last decade, the bankruptcy reform legislation (though Biden was for it). That POS has made it virtually impossible for middle class people to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and has turned our government into a collection agent (with power of debtor's prison) for the big banks.
