I am finally home. Wanted to say thanks to all for keeping me laughing and entertained as I read the threads here.
Spent 185 days on deployment. Made port calls in Guam, Sasebo, Pusan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Hawaii, Dubai and Singaopore. Steamed half way around the world to the Persian Gulf. The ship launched planes in support of troops in Afghanistan, performed typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines, and performed naval exercises in conjunction with the Indian Navy. Over the last week, we hosted 1250 + civilians onboard during a cruise from Hawaii to homeport in Sand Diego. We completed over 1500 launches and recoveries.
Anway, just wanted to say hello. Looking forward to getting into the threads again.

Glad to have you back, MCPO.
Sounds like you put our tax dollars to much better use in the past half year than what others have been doing for the past few months.
Thanks!

That's a jammed-packed 6 months. That's a good point. Does the 6 months fly buy because you are so busy, or does it drag on and on because you are away from home and your family?

The 6 months drags by pretty slow. You think about the 6 months from start to finish and it takes forever. So in order to make it managable and sane enough to handle, you work towards the next milestone, say a port call, inspection, holiday on the ship or whatever. That breaks it down into smaller sections and makes you able to handle it easier. Worst part of the whole thing is being subjected to AFN commercials the whole time. That sucks. I did get to shoot a .50 cal machine gun though. That was pretty cool.
