I 2nd that! I wonder if Auburn even knows how well he's done at ISU. It seems that they don't even care and are writing it off to being at one of the shittiest D1 schools to have a coaching position at. Few hot girls to help recruitng, no tradition to be proud of, lame town, stupid shitty fans, afterthough half confrence of the Big 12, crappy stadium, etc. etc. You cannot help but think these things came up in his interview. The rumors a couple of months ago about him complaining about his job to a staff member at OSU (I think that is where it was) are probably true. It wouldn't bother me in the least to see Cheesedick have some success at Auburn and have his days at ISU be a bane on his otherwise remarkable coaching career. Ideally, we would face Auburn in a bowl game in the future and pound the piss out of them. We actually did kind of struggle against his god awful team this year until late in the 3rd quarter. Maybe, just maybe, some day we will face him again.

I was also wondering how much he must have trashed ISU at the interview.....had to give the toss in front of the bus, doesn't he? Sucks to be one of the assistant coaches that just got canned or demoted before Geno moved on to greener pastures.....although the new coach may clean house anyway....who will Pollard get next? Stay with UNI and give Farley his shot?

I can't say I was shocked, but I don't think Chizik is that good of a coach. I think ISU under-achieved this year. I really think Auburn took a huge step toward mediocrity with this hire. Hey, ISU, here is a hanky to wipe all the shit off your face!

Quite possibly one of the worst hires ever in college FB.

Quite possibly one of the worst hires ever in college FB. Maybe, but I can't say I blame Chizik. Blame Auburn for hiring him. He's getting a 900k a year raise.

How does 5-19 look on the resume as your only head coaching stint? I understand it's ISU, but that must make DMac the best coach ever, seeing how he took ISU to bowls. But yea, he definitely had to have thrown ISU under the bus big time. He probably brought in pictures of the co-eds to the interview.

I doubt he will look back on his days at ISU as the glory days of his coaching career. I like him as a coach even though I can't stand the teams he's coached for.

I agree. I like DMac. They shouldn't have forced him out. Pollard is a fucking tool anyway. I can't see him being AD too much longer. He's made more mistakes than he has upgrades.

In fact I sort of applaud him in a way. Now, yes, he looks like a hypocrit for calling his QB a quitter, then leaving. But Chizik isn't qutting IMO, he's getting a 250% raise to go to a bigger school. And yes, he looks like a hypocrit for firing/demoting people then leaving, but that was before the Auburn job came open. Has no correlation to this move. Bigtime college athletics is a business. Nothing more. Everybody feeding the money trough needs to get what they can out of it before they are cast aside....coaches and students alike. If a player can transfer to improve his playing time and draftability, so be it. If a coach can get a better gig which pays more, so be it.

I think D-MAC might actually be a great coach. Think about it. He took ISU to bowl games. Something no other coach in the last 25+ years has done. If he can do that at ISU where everybody else has failed in the last 2 1/2 decades I wonder what he could do at an Auburn, Florida, TX, Etc. The more I think about it the more I don't think he is getting the recognition he deserves.

I think it's just a matter of time before he his the head coach at a quality (not ISU) D1 school. The luxury for D'Mac at this point is that he can hold out for a great offer...being an assistant at Florida can't be a bad gig! BTW Hoffa, great picture.
