in Greenstein's preseason football rankings. I think that is too high. O'Kweefe will NOT have the offense ready early and we will choke away a game in September.
Greenstein also picked us to win the Big 10. We have a pretty tough schedule, at OSU, at PSU, at MSU and at Wisconsin. Ferentz has historically choked on the road, and I don't think he's ever won at MSU or OSU, so that will have to change.

We are not at Michigan State this year. That will be at Kinnick. The '08 game was in East Lansing.
That said, I too think the top ten is a bit high, but I also don't think there's any reason we can't go out and make the most of that ranking either. Most of the O-Line is back, and the defense should be good. I really like the team we have coming back this year.

Due to a scheduling quirk, we play in East Lansing again in 2009 and NU comes back to IC.

Sure enough. My mistake for assuming the schedule would continue as it has for the past umpteen million years.
That said, I don't think MSU is too much to be worried about. They were better this past year than they will be in '09, and we should have beat them this year.
Methinks you worry too much BTR.

I'm thinking 9-3, top 20 finish.
I doubt the Big Ten gets 2 into the BCS again, so maybe the Outback again.

The offense is only ready against the easy, shit teams like FIU or NI. It will wither just like it always does against ISU/Arizona and we will be back to square one. We will lose a couple games we should win and Hawk fans will start bitching about KF and KOK, how the offense sucks, and that one or the other has to go. Then mid-way throught the BIG10 season they will get on a roll and we will go bowling. Happens every year, except 07' anyways.

too high.
somewhere around 20 would be where I would put them and our schedule is a lot tougher next year then this past year. If we split with tOSU and PSU next year I would be a very happy guy.

I dunno Hoffa. I'm not sure about aOSU, but doesn't PSU lose a ton heading into next year? I know Clark returns, but will he have anyone to throw to? I thought most of the receivers and backs were seniors.
As for aOSU, I think they lose a ton on both sides of the ball. That said, it is Ohio State, and I'm sure they'll just reload. The Shoe is never an easy place to play or win.
That said, I think a 15-20 ranking would be appropriate for Iowa heading into next year. I'm hoping Stanzi actually learns from what happened this year and applies that to future years, unlike Mr. Tate.
