The word is Eaton Corp' is probably going to close here shortly. They make valves for anything with wheels and an engine. If they close Belmond will become a ghost town. They donate a shit load of money to a ton of local causes.

Don't worry, Matta. Massive GOP tax cuts will solve everything.

Don't worry, Matta. Massive GOP tax cuts will solve everything. According to certain campaign rhetoric, tax cuts caused the crisis we're in. The current stimulus plan has a bunch of new tax cuts. I suspect that the extra $13 per week will substantially stimulate the cigarette, smokeless tobacco, beer and lotto industries.

Hey, you remember that one time..... when people laughed at Al Gore and his "Lockbox" Remember that? It sure was funny... ah, good times.

According to certain campaign rhetoric, specific tax cuts went to people who were already fleecing the American public come to find out. My extra $13 is going toward a purchase of Meet the Spartans

Not getting laid off yet, but I find out around 4:30 or so if my salary is getting slashed... Been there, done that. It's not fun --- but with perspective, it's better than the alternative. I keep wondering if my company is truly going to honor the March 31st thing & the severance. Business has been puckering up faster than a diarrhea damming anus.

Not getting laid off yet, but I find out around 4:30 or so if my salary is getting slashed... Good luck, man! Won't know anything for 3 weeks while our HR dipshit "thinks it over". We basically had to sell him on our positions. I am happy and thankful they aren't eliminating them...but I'm taking the "thinking about it" as a move to salary slashing.

If you can get out of this with a 3-5% loss in salary you will be lucky. I got a letter Monday if I don't return to work on Tuesday I am considered "quit" and my doc' won't release me. I may qualify for a 3 month "inactive status" if my doc' will write the slip for me where I won't be paid but that is not going to help my situation any. I'm out until the summer for sure.

Sorry to hear Matta. It's probably going to be closer to 10%, but I've already put things in perspective. I'll survive.

I'm cool with it if we are having collections or workflow issues and I'm not as profitable as I was last year. Sure, the guys running the shop are pulling 7 figures and had a record year in 2008 and 2009 looks to be shaping up into a year that will shatter 2008, but I'm in the group that is reliant on M&A and securities work, which are pretty slow right now, so I understand that my contributions aren't worth nearly what they were a year ago. The stuff I am getting is what the bankruptcy guys are spinning off, they're the masters of the universe right now, but the pendulum shall swing.
