Mothers' Day will be coming up (I know, not until May, but still...) and I am seriously considering getting my wife a stun gun. Check out the link to said gun: budk.com/firefly-stun-gun/p/23%20ADDP60/c/3100/Now, before you call a "foul" on this idea, please know that my wife has mentioned several times that she should have a stun gun. She works nights at the Vet's Home and it seems like once or twice a year, some woman gets attacked or flashed in the neighborhood where she works. With warmer weather on the way, (we hope!) the crazies will once again be out in force. Also, my wife kind of likes violence. Not PERSONALLY, but you know... in movies, video games, and stuff. She loves Grand Theft Auto, Scarface, horror flicks, etc. She is also a bit short and probably couldn't defend herself very well if she were to be attacked. Soooo........ whaddya say? Bad move or good move? Or should I just get her the gun with no holiday attached? : edit for grammar, spelling

Knowing where you live I would say go for it! WORD!! I think the local paper should have a lottery where readers can pick the day of the first bike trail attack! I pick Cinco De Mayo. No reason.

I think you should buy one for her, either that or bear mace. The only problem with bear mace is that it would probably hurt her a little too.
If you do get her one would you let her try using it on you just to see what happens?

We've had something similar for about 7 years now. I think it's left the drawer twice. I'll give you the same advice my uncle gives when talking about gun ownership. Unless you're prepared to use it - and face the realities of using it, prepare to have it taken from you and used on you. If it's self defense she's looking for, I'd recommend her taking Krav Maga classes (if possible). www.kravmaga.com/

I would get her one but I would make her sign a contract that says she cannot use it on you if you piss her off. Just thinking towards the future.

If you do get her one would you let her try using it on you just to see what happens? Yes. That is a requirement. I made the requirement. If I am getting her something for self-defense, I need to know its effectiveness first-hand.

If it's self defense she's looking for, I'd recommend her taking Krav Maga classes (if possible). www.kravmaga.com/I'm pretty sure the wife is prepared to use it. However, I can see where she would forget it and leave it at home or something when she needs it. But as for having the guts to use it... yes, I have no doubt of that. I almost fear her enjoying it and looking it to use it at every turn! As for Krav Maga... yeah, it's a brutal art. Looks cool and effective! I also teach tae kwon do and have offered to teach her some self-defense stuff, but she's more the type that wants to be able to do ONE thing and get away without having to spend time training for it. Thus, her desire for the stun gun. One zap and she is sprinting away while the loser is doing the "crappie flop".
