Any of you Des Moines area guys know where or who to go to for getting a windshield replaced? Not personally, but know somebody that certainly would. I e-mailed him. I'll let you know if I hear back.

"woah, woah, I never said U2, sucked ass, I just said every albulm after Joshua tree sucked ass. spelling is really difficult right now. I totally agree (that took me three time sto spell) that how to kill a nuclear bomb was the worst attempt at heterosexuals trying to be faggots since the beginning of time,... but remember the unforgettable fire.
from now on I'm just going to make those animated videos, none of you have any idea how difficult this post was.

Any of you Des Moines area guys know where or who to go to for getting a windshield replaced? If it's not too late, try these guys: www.safelite.com/I used them a few years ago and they were about $150 cheaper than everybody else I found - and made the fix in my work parking lot.

I actually just looked at this website the other day, and I think I will go with them. It was $227 installed, which is cheaper than anything else I have found. Thanks for the advice. No problems with their service?

No problems with their service? None at all. Very professional and the same windshield found elsewhere. I was most pleased about their doing it "wherever I was at". In my case, their outfit was based in Davenport and made 2x week trips to Peoria for jobs. It looks like there is one local to DSM, so the dates shouldn't be a problem.

I would call my insurance company and get it replaced free. That's what I do.

I would call my insurance company and get it replaced free. That's what I do. Alot of insurance plans have deductibles that are more then the cost of the windshield. Just another example of how insurance companies fuck people over. Breaking a windshield sucks. Breaking a windshield that isn't yours sucks even more. I know from experience. I set a small plate on Stukat's dashboard one day. One right turn later, the plate slid all the way across the dash and popped up as it hit the the other side......only to crack the windshield ever so gently. $400 later, I have only this dumbass story to tell. This was on a car with full coverage as well. That really grinds my gears.

It was his car, and by allowing you into his car - he assumed all associated risks with doing so. Asking you to pay for the windshield is tantamount to the banking industry asking to be bailed out for their creating / selling / buying CDS's & CDO's.

Well, at the time I had borrowed his car. So, he wasn't even in the vehicle. I would just feel like an asshole if I tried to get out of having to pay for that.

It was a while ago. No worries. It's only money. Had it not went to a new winshield, it just would have gone to alcohol, ganja and gay chinese midgets.

I did call my insurance company, and with them, I had to pay my deductible, which is $500. I am getting it replaced using the people Socal mentioned for $222 plus tax. Insurance companies fucking suck. They sure don't hesitate to cancel your fucking policy when you are late with your $65 payment and then charge you $110 for re-instatement, but they can't cover a fucking windshield.

Plus your rate probably would have gone up, too. But the price you're getting charged is right on par with what I was told, and apparently it was a 'really good deal'. So at least you have that going...

When I lived in Mini-soda - iirc, there was some law that required windshield coverage with only a $100 deductible.

It will be done by noon tomorrow at my house, so ROCK ON!

When I lived in Mini-soda - iirc, there was some law that required windshield coverage with only a $100 deductible. I don't think Iowa has the same law, but my first car needed the windshield replaced (tiny little specks...cracks maybe, I don't know...but I had trouble seeing anything when driving into the sun). Anyway, my insurance policy had a $100 deductible for the windshield. The windshield guys came to my apartment, replaced the windshield, I wrote them a check for $100, and all was well. I thought the $100 deductible policy was pretty common, but maybe not.

Wow. Your insurance companies suck.
I have free windshield replacement on my policy. I've used it 3 times in the past 4 years. Rocks from snow plows are a bitch.
Seriously can't believe you have to pay a deductible for a windshield. I go through American Family and it's part of the policy.

The side window on my T & C busted inward last summer and it cost us 100 I think. But that is our deductible. I love it.
I ran over a bike up at Mayo last July, screwed up the fender and the oil pan, $100.
Got into a damn fender bender Christmas shopping in Mason city last December, $100.
I thought they were really going to screw me and run the rate up after I ran over the bike and then the fender bender but they didn't asses me any points since I haven't had any accidents in like 4 or 5 years so all is good.

Got the window replaced today. Quality work out of the Safelite Auto Glass people. Window looks good, they really took care to protect the inside and outside of my car, and they were friendly. Highly recommended to anyone that needs this service in the future! Thanks Socal for the recommendation, and Iteus for checkin into one for me as well!
