Stuck at work from 7:30-6:00 today. Same tomorrow. I wish I were drunk.

Most people are working on this day. It's not a federal holiday or anything.

Working on St. Pat's for the first time in 3 or 4 years. I was blind drunk at this time last St. Paddy's day. *sigh*

I normally don't get to excited about St. Patty's day, but the fact that a lot people are out getting smashed (literally right now) pisses me off because I am sitting in a cubicle in front of a computer like a god damn lab monkey.

My neighbors on the corner are Irish. As I was going to work at 10:30, they were partying it up with friends. I was pretty jealous.

I hate St. Patrick's Day. The level of d-baggery in my 'hood goes off the charts. Hey proles, stay in your own neighborhood to drink. Don't come to one of the 200 Irish Pub/Sportsbar combo shops that are within a half mile of my apartment. You can get the exact same experience at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Proleville and it will be cheaper.

Today would be a good day to be out and about boozing it up and celebrating whatever Irish blood you have. Me, I'm about 1/8th Irish but I'm cooped up in the office all day.

Oh yeah, and one more thing, I have a diligent Iowa work ethic - the only day it is acceptable to be really drunk before noon is on a Saturday when the Hawks are playing or on New Year's Day when the Hawks are playing if New Year's Day falls on a day other than Saturday.

Oh yeah, one last thing, I saw a fat gal walking around today wearing a green shirt with a tiger hawk logo that said "Kiss Me, I'm a Hawkeye." A nice shirt, but they really shouldn't make those in XXXL size, it could be detrimental to recruiting.

The area we were working in still has a lot to be done though. I can't wait to go back in a couple of years to see how it has changed, assuming it doesn't get wiped out again. Or were you meaning the other type of scenery??

Of course, any evidence of 'other' scenery would be welcomed.

I remember when we went to Key West in Feb. of '06...we had a layover in Dallas, so we flew from Miami to Dallas passing directly over N'awlins. It just looked like a giant mud pit from the air.
