I know that it happened a few times during football season, for instance I don't remember even being at the N'western game, but I do remember running (literally) to the Wasteland tailgate afterward. I just saw picture evidence that I played flippy cup at a party last weekend that I have no recollection of. I didn't think I had drank that much, regulating myself to about 2 drinks/hour. My GF told me that I refused the leave the party after she had asked to leave at least 5 times, something I would not normally do. I feel pretty bad about my problem. Do any of you suffer from this condition? It is just a result of getting old, or rarely drinking anymore, but when I do I binge? Any good blackout stories? I'm sure at least one of you have found a dead hooker in the closet at least once.

Be careful Dug. Blacking out when drinking is not a good thing. One of my very good friends used to do it all of the time in college and about 8 years after until he realized he had a problem and quit drinking altogether.
I am not saying this is the route that you have to go just remember not knowing what you do when you are drunk is never a good thing and can lead to some really bad things. It also isn't good that you didn't listen to your GF when she asked you to leave or anyone for that matter.
Good luck and be careful.

The thing where I didn't listen is what REALLY bothers me. I know that I would never do anything truly "bad", that is just not a part of my moral character. The fact that I didn't listen and acted selfishly (not a normal part of my character) leaves some doubts. I don't believe that I had blackout moments in college when I drank weekly. Maybe my tolerance is just really low due to the fact that I am getting older and drink rarely (less than one occurrence an month, if that) excluding tailgating.

I've found as I'm getting older Doug that I am remembering less and less when I get drunk. When I realized this, I cut back my drinking by a large amount. If you are truly worried about it, try limiting yourself to total drinks for a night rather than 2 per hour. Cap yourself at say, 7 or 8 rather than a potential 12+

I still get blackout drunk fairly often (once every few months). It always sucks. I hate waking up in the morning hungover with no clue what happened the night before.
When I was younger, it used to mean trouble more then likely (breaking the law, getting arrested or something along those lines). Thankfully, I outgrew that phase and now I usually only have to hear my friends tell me how wasted I was and deal with the occasional pissed off fiance.

My problem is when I get my drink on, I get into a rebelious state of mind. I won't listen to what anyone tells me to do, including myself. So telling myself I'm only going to drink 7 beers tonight is fine at the beginning of the night. But, come 11 or 12 I'm like f**k that guy......I'm getting drunk.

The key for me is staying away from liquor (see Maine game last year). It takes a whole lot of beer for me to get drunk, so it would take some hard work to get blackout drunk.

Sometimes when the Hawkeyes lose games they shouldn't I end up getting really drunk.
During this last season a few of us were at a bar across the street where I live and we all got really drunk during and after the Pitt football game. I know there were a ton of shots going around and it was a fun day but I kind of blacked out in the afternoon. I lost my keys permanently, my debit card for a day, pissed off my buddy by pulling a barstool out from under his mom. Pissed off another buddy by attempting to pull the barstool from under his fiance. I was supposed to go to a company party afterwards but when my friends came to pick me up we mutually agreed it would be a bad idea. I had to break the screen in my window and crawl through it to get into my apartment too because I gave my keys to the bartender who gave them to my friend who lost them while also blacked out. Pretty stupid things to be doing and a direct result of overboozing.
I don't do this very often anymore but sometimes after getting hammered I would look at my phone and see I called some women I had no buisness calling around 3 am while blackout drunk.
I still like to kick some beverages back once or twice a week but try to avoid taking it too far. I would have to agree with MoHawk about trying not to exceed 10 drinks in order to keep the stupidity from happening. Staying away from shots usually does the trick.

If you know you are going to be drinking until 2/3/4 in the morning then you are drinking to early. Drink lots of water or pop up until midnight and then go crazy. If you can have 2/3 drinks per hour of water/soda from 9 until 12 then your stomach should be fuller and you won't drink as much after midnight and you can probably drink longer. Unless your pissing like a russian race horse and all bets are out the window. I have maybe, 4/5 years of "hard drinking" experience. Where I am drinking maybe 4 or 5 nights a week and having more than 5 or 6 per night upwards of 12/13. I have another 4 or 5 years of "casual weekend" drinking where I would drink alot but may not get drunk. Since I met my wife in 00' and married in 02' I probably drank a few times a year. Now i hardly touch the stuff.

Oh, something I forgot to mention before. It isn't like we were out really late either. We were home around midnight. We got there right before Metcalf wrestled in the finals so it was probably 6:30-7.
