Including this site.
Don't get me wrong. . . I love the internet. It has been one of my, if not, favorite sources of entertainment over the last few years. However, I have realized a pattern with internet sites that seems to hold pretty steady. . . mostly with any form of social networking.
Think about it. . . a few years ago IMing over MSN messanger was a huge fad. Then comes along MySpace. . . was a huge fad. Then Facebook. . . not long from being a hugefad. Twitter. . . possibly and maybe currently the next big fad. . . and so on and so forth.
Even this precious little gem of a site is losing it's traction as a sweet little spot for some smart and cool mo fo's to congregate and swap ideas. Like all other fads though. . . the novelty has worn off in a way similar to that of any sort of long term "relationship".
I will say though that the biggest thing that I get off of this site is the intelligent prospectives from the entire political spectrum. That and the shared lewd humor that ties all of us proles together.
It always sucks when a Wastelander abandons the Wasteland and to see it dissapate would make my days at work alot longer.
Bottom line is I like knowing in the back of my hand that I belong to an extremely exlusive club known as the Hawkeye Wasteland. Keep it up brothers and don't get so carried away with your viewpoints that you lose track of what being a Wastelander is all about.
Also, I won't deny that some of the points brought up by my fellow Wastelanders have changed my views. Also, the mudslinging and banter thrown back has allowed me to see the "other side's" point of view enough that it has changed or altered my own view on many subjects, and I thank you all for that.
Hope I'm not getting too Hawkstalky. Regardless of views, I get the feeling that we are all a bunch of pretty good intentioned and well rounded dudes (and the recently absent germaine). Keep it up dudes, all good things rise and fall.
And let us not forget, the only reason that any of us ever came here to begin with is because of a proud tradition that comes from being an Iowa Hawkeye. We have all reason to think that we are fans of one of the greatest and most deserving college teams in the nation. I remember many times hearing national sports brodcasters comment on how much of a devoted, loyal and fun lovin fan base the Iowa Hawkeyes have. As an athletic program, we are the face of the state to the rest of the nation, and I take alot of pride in that.
Off to Cleveland tomorrow, have a good weekend fellow Hawkeyes.
