So these hate mongering fuckwads were in Mtown this weekend. They were protesting the play "The Laramie Project" being put on at the Community Playhouse. For those unfamiliar with the "Laramie Project", I guess it is a play about some gay kid who was beaten to death in Laramie, Wyoming for being gay. The play is about that whole incident and gay attitudes. My understanding is that the play does not advocate homosexuality so much as it speaks out against hatred and intolerance.
At any rate, these stupid fucks were again in Mtown to protest said play, complete with their famous "GOD HATES FAGS" and "MATT IS IN HELL!!" signs (Matt is the main character in the story... the REAL gay kid who was killed). So Mtown once again had to spend tax-payer money to provide cops and barricades for their protection. My question is: WHY? If they apply for a permit to protest, fine. But that doesn't mean that every application needs to be approved. And if it IS approved, let THEM provide their own protection!
These are the same tools who thought it appropriate to protest the funeral of a local soldier killed in combat a few years ago. A soldier upstanding enough to have the post office named after him (Scott Nisely). Yet these people get their jollies off making fun of the deaths of others.
WTF???
I WAS proud that most of the people here in Mtown simply ignored them and went about their business. The local paper only had a small picture of the ordeal in the paper and never had any real story on them. GOOD!! That is the correct response. I wish I could remember to do that more often to the attention whores that irritate me.
I am mostly upset at MY tax dollars going to support their protection. Yet, if I complain to the City about it, I essentially legitimize their cause... which is attention. I am torn. Hopefully, this church never returns to Mtown and it will never be an issue again.
But what does everyone else think about this so-called church? Cult? Legit church? Something else entirely? I consider them to be a big-time cult.
